I'm sure the very first poly question was "did you catch this during the tournament?"

winning team's story is that During the 25-minute battle on 80-pound class tackle, the fish jumped into the hull and broke its bill.

JJ is claiming that the story wasn't consistent and the boat had no evidence if the fish marring it

It broke its bottom jaw too? Lol that is pretty damn shady and doesn't explain the face very well.

I was deep dropping about 80 miles offshore strait south of cocodrie on Saturday and saw JJ doing 55 plus heading in. Hit him up on the radio and he said he had a big on on the deck
Apparently he wasn't lying. Cool experience seeing that boat fly by.

Wonder if Captain Woody was a deckhand on the Arias?

I am not a blue water fisherman but I would think in this day and age if you are fighting a winning class fish for 25 minutes there would be video. Seems kinda shady.

What in the hell are people insinuating? That this team, on their way over from south Florida, caught the marlin, tied it up somewhere and kept it alive, until they could dock at the marina, take off on Thursday and go back and retrieve it? This is absurd.

The only argument is that it is a mutilated fish, as defined by IGFA rules. This tournament clearly states that the IGFA rules are not firm and it is up to the discretion of the judges. They ruled-game over.

if i was reeling that bastard in it would look like a big budget porn shoot on the boat with all the cameras filming me.

I wonder if they checked the state room for Marlin blood prior to them leaving

all they needed to do was check the broken bill and the fresh blood was right there.

all you are required to film is the leadering of the fish, the GPS coordinates, and time/day if you are releasing. if it is a kill fish, nothing required.

i am sure they were focused on keeping it on the line and getting it in the boat, knowing they were going to kill it and not need to film it. just my $0.02

I am not insinuating anything. I am just surprised they don't have cameras setup on the bridge and the captain pushes power when they hook up. If for nothing more than a cool video.

They do. That's why it's so weird. A contraversial catch, conflicting stories, conspicuously missing video.

I'm not saying they cheated but they're not doing themselves any favors.

Not all do. Probably the execption not the rule.

Nothing controversial about the catch. They caught it, bill broke off during fight, they landed it, and the judges ruled.

The pokey end of that big arse fish doesn't look like anything I'd want hitting the side of my 60+' sport fisher hard enough to break off.

Like I said earlier, I love watching these boats work and hopefully it was legitimate and the right call was made. I'd hate to find out there are people out there doing petty shite on this scale. I wouldn't be able to watch it anymore.

I think it's pretty common to not have anything other than a cell phone camera anywhere on the boat. There's a lot of pretty damn old boats running out there.

You can bet your arse that if I'm fishing for a purse like that and I hang something that might even be considered as maybe big enough to win anything, somebody better get that shite on camera so I can bother the shite out of my buddies making them watch it.
