JJ is pissed on facebook
quote:
Asked them to show me any marks on the transom or the boat and they could not. Their story changed 3 times about how it happened. I physically tried to break the bill from our fish this weekend on the concrete dock in front of tournament official and bystanders and could not even with repeated blows. Oh yea and "they didn't get any video"
quote:
we protested. They didn't dq fish. Lots of iffy things done and said. Including Bobby Carter saying multiple times to multiple people they weighed the fish "in the heat of the moment"

So is JJ insinuating that the fish was caught long before this weekend?

I'm not sure what he is insinuating. If it was caught long before this weekend they would have a tough time keeping it from being obvious. It would take a lot of work.
If what he is saying about no marks, stories changing, and no video is true then I have to admit that it is pretty suspicious

I don't know any of these people but it seems like this JJ guy is always bitching about something.

I think they made some type of rule because of hima while back

I've seen sailfish without bills, why would it be that crazy for someone to catch a marlin without one? I'm obviously not a marlin guy, but most tournaments your marlin has to have a bill?
Seems to me like if you were going to cheat, you wouldn't do something as obvious as cut off the bill as that does nothing but draw attention.

the bill was supposedly on during the fight and broke off when he fish hit the props

most of the time it's up to the discretion of the weigh master/ tournament officials

I don't think JJ is saying they intentionally cut the bill off, he is saying it should be considered a mutilated fish and thus DQ

Generally the prevention of mutiliated fish is to prevent cheating right? I mean I don't see how a broken off bill helps someone? If anything that bill weighs 5-10 lbs+ so it reduces the weight right?

ThT post is about to get interesting

This is the most suspicious part to me: "they didn't get any video" Don't most of these guys film everything? I know it's required for catch & release points
Some other fun stuff from the rule book of the MGCBC vs IGFA
The tournament committee reserves the right to reject any fish entry because of poor condition or one that does not meet the eligible requirements set by this tournament. The condition of the fish will be left to the scrutiny of the tournament committee. THEIR DECISION IS FINAL.
All state record winners must submit to and pass in a conclusive manner, a polygraph examination administered by a licensed polygraphist provided by tournament officials. All entrants agree to submit to a polygraph examination at the request of the tournament committee if there is a conflict involving said entrant. Failure to submit to such an examination will result in disqualification of the entrant at the sole discretion of the tournament committee.
IGFA
The following situations will disqualify a catch:
2. Mutilation to the fish, prior to landing or boating the catch, caused by sharks, other fish, mammals, or propellers that remove or penetrate the flesh.
(Injuries caused by leader or line, scratches, old healed scars or regeneration deformities are not considered to be disqualifying injuries.) Any mutilation on the fish must be shown in a photograph and fully explained in a separate report accompanying the record application.

Looks like that fish got run over by a boat and these guys rolled up on a freshly dead tournament winner.
I took my family up there for part of the weigh in. It was cool.

If that was the case I hope they took every cent of their winnings and walked right into the casino with it.

I don't think losing the bill would kill a marlin but I'm not an expert

That fish looks like it got smoked in the face...that would.
My scenario is completely made up, I'm just saying that it fits all accounts of the story.
