Mice in chicken coop

Discovered a few mice in my chicken coop.
Coop 75’-100’ feet from house but next to a pasture with tall grass.
Conventional mouse traps and sticky pads not working.
Food picked up nightly, feed stored in metal garbage can away from coop.
Any ideas on how to eliminate mice without harming chickens.

Chickens and rodents sort of go hand in hand is my take. I've had several friends over the years that had chickens for eggs and eventually stew meat and they all had rodent problems.
Either with field mice or rats, depending on where they lived. One guy had his coop next to a canal out in N.O. East about 30 years ago and had rats all the time and got rid of the chickens within a year.
I don't care how much you police the area and pick up feed, there's enough there for mice to get a meal on.

Barn cat.
We have two outside cats, they stay closer to the house than the chicken coop.

Rolling log trap and a bucket of water. I close off my food nightly also. I have a lab that has killed several rats the size of a shoebox but the little field mice are too quick for him. Rolling log does the trick for me.
If you see the mice then you got more than you think. I never see any but I know they are around.

You can make them with an old 5 gallon paint bucket, a piece of coat hanger, an empty soda can and a piece of wood for a ramp----plus a bit of peanut butter.
Check out u-tube for a how to. They do work well,

Stop feeding them and force them to hunt.

Just one bite bait stations outside everywhere. Won't eliminate in your situation but will put a HUGE dent in them.

They probably taste like chicken.

I made a version of this for my coup. Put a brick of rat poison in the middle under the cap where the mice can get to it, but the chickens can’t.
