Read "One Second After" if you want a good idea of how it would go.

EMP knocks out power to the entire US. Society breaks down almost overnight. Story is about living through that with no end in sight.

Based on a military studies commissioned by the house of reps to see what would happen in that scenario. It's a pretty scary book honestly.

Basically, hunting and fishing are the first stocks to get exhausted because that's what everyone who can will be doing in any decent sized area. And if you don't form clans and groups you're toast.

O and anyone with any kind of condition has like a 60% death rate. IE diabetes, overweight, heart issues, etc.

That said I think a far more likely situation is shite stays like this for 2 more years (or gets worse),Biden wins in '24, and states like Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, just say deuces and at least try to split from the rest of the country. Or you could do the same scenario with California and Trump or Desantis winning, though I don't think that is nearly as likely. It will be extremely chaotic in either case. Our current political climate is untenable and will come to a head eventually.

This is just silly. MS and LA are essentially welfare states, much of the income comes from the Federal Government in the form of SS checks, VA disability, EBT, etc. Who's gonna to revolt and have Meemaw's SS check check off and her Medicare cancelled?

I'm with you.

Son in law says Mr. Wrong with all the stuff you have, you don't have to worry about having a "Team" if the SHTF. They will be with you until you have to run across a field. Then they will scavenge all your stuff.

Truth be told.... Before things ever get stupid, "they" will probably bulldoze the homes of people like me/us, with us in it.

I've various caches but in review I should probably rethink some things.
You always assume you can defend what you have but superior firepower and / or numbers may exist. Definitely time to rethink some things.

My freeze drier should be in soon. Just in time for the spring / early summer vegetables to die. Was hoping to have it sooner. Ah well, this crop will be dependent upon refrigeration.

Those are so bad arse. Steep price tag but worth it when you think about what it can do for self sufficiency

I second this suggestion. It's a great read, as are the two sequels.

And IIRC, virtually all the people who bugged out met a pretty grisly fate.

Your only chance would be to already be living in a very remote place with a group of already very primitive people.

Would it be safe to eat the catfish?

Every sewer plant in the interior USA is then spilling sewage into the Mississippi.

Every Chem plant could spill into it as well.

Every dam on the tributaries, unmanned could break and you’d be underwater if conditions are woefully right.

Unmanned, the spillways makes its drastic turn toward Morgan City.

Drinking water no more even north past BR. Etc.

No one wants this emp smoke. I don’t.

You seem pretty dense. You realize a bob is just to get you to wherever your designated spot you want to be right.
