These threads usually reveal mixed results. I sent some MJ rimless back to repair cracks in lenses where the screws go in. Asked for a warranty repair, but they charged me a chunk. Just had the same issue with Costa rimless (several years old), submitted pics online, and they approved and sent me a new pair for free.

If it happened again, I wouldn’t be surprised if the results were opposite. Based on what I’ve read, it’s a crap shoot with both companies.

Pick the glasses you like the best, be careful with them, and hope for the best if repairs are needed.

Just used Costa's warranty service.
Filled out the form and sent pictures. Received an approval and return label within five days. Received a new pair of glasses a week later.

I filed a claim for my "good" pair of Costas a few weeks ago. All online, submitted a few photos of the rubber parts on the frame peeling off. They warrantied the work and shipped a new pair. Since that pair shipped I went ahead and filed a claim on my old pair, also due to the rubber coming off the frame. I received the replacement pair yesterday and the lenses don't fit in the frames and rattle around. Now I'll have to send them back too and wait for a second replacement pair.

Another Update

The second replacement pair arrived yesterday... with lenses loose and rattling in the frames. they either have a pile of shitty ones they are sending out or just sent the ones I mailed them back to me.

I wanted to go with those but couldn't find anyone that carries them.

I called and sent them in. They repaired them for free and even sent them back in a new case. I didn’t have any warranty or proof of purchase to provide them.

Crazy how I had a different experience with Maui Jim.

I actually paid the fee and shipping. They acted like it was a favor to me as well.

That was enough to get me to go full Costa from now on.

I hate getting duped and don’t have to give them My money again.

Costa used to be great, even the box said if they break we’ll take care of you. If it’s not warranty we’ll get you fixed up for a few bucks. I’ve got a pair that the frame broke in half, in the past would have always been a quick free replacement. Their response was sorry not warranty and we don’t make that one anymore so here’s a coupon for 30% off if you want to buy on our site. Basically same deal you can find elsewhere anyway.

I have owned at least a dozen pairs of costas probably more, still can’t beat their 580 glass lenses, but at $270 a pair it’s frustrating they don’t stand behind them now.

They have replaced two pairs of Techlite glass lenses for free. I had to upgrade to new frames both times, but that lense is worth it.

I just recently made a claim (damages rubber on arms and nose piece) with Costa and the frames I had are no longer sold in the matte gray. They offered me a brand new pair in the silver color. I wasn't a fan of the option given, so I contacted customer service. They said I could pick any frame as long as it was equal or lesser value. I'll have a brand new pair of $259.00 glasses next week.

Everyone talks about how Costa's warranty has gotten worse... I haven't experienced that yet.
