Nope. Mine is fine. Had a problem with trigger not cocking after I chambered it a few times but turns out I really need o push that slide in all the way. I mean really push it in. Problem solved.

Did you ever let someone else shoot the gun when it was malfunctioning? That's the only way to rule out user error.
But still good to hear your gun is running now. I'd get a few different boxes of brass-cased ammo from the common manufacturers (Federal, Winchester, Remington, etc.) and see how it functions. Report back after you do.

no one else shot the gun. Wasn't user error it happened too often. The first time out I used three different brands of ammo four if I include reloads (all brass). When I get some time I'll grab a mixed bag of ammo and head to the range.

The only problem I ever had with my Shield was one magazine that I always had trouble getting through without misfeeds. I guess that must have gotten broken in, because I quit having that problem. My slide seemed really hard to pull back at first, but that may have been my not having experience with a semi-auto handgun.

Have read several reports of this involving some of the most recently manufactured Shields.
Clearly S&W has/had a QA/QC problem recently. They seem to have overestimated demand, and built a sh*t load of Shields to meet demand that wasn't these (Hence all the rebates). This apparently lead to shoddy workmanship.
My Shield is one of the earliest models. Never any problem -- yet.
If I owned one like you have, I've ship it back to S&W and insist that it be inspected/repaired/tested/returned. Even if the symptoms dissipate on their own, I wouldn't trust it until you run ~1000 rounds thru it with zero malfunctions. (This is my personal reliability test for any self-defense weapon.

Unclejhim,
Have you had a chance to shoot your gun since it's been repaired?
I've never sent a gun back to the factory, but a number of my friends have. When it was returned, there was usually a cryptic and very brief note from the gunsmith re: the repairs or NO note at all. Your note was actually more descriptive than most.

dawg23 you must have missed something . I did send it back. I detailed the problem and asked them to look into it. They sent it back with a note basically saying , they inspected it, fixed it and it passed their range test.
I hope to take it out today or next week and put several hundred rounds through it.

Glock uses a copper anti-seize compound that they recommend you don't clean off during initial shooting.
That antiseice actually works as a lubricant and polish.
It smooths out the small imperfections and is one reason why glocks work the way they do. I have run it on my smiths with similar success.

And I get downvoted for saying shoot the dann thing before cleaning.

Yes, Friday I put about 50 rounds through it(time constraints limited my range time) everything functioned fine. Hope fully next week I will grab a mixed bag of ammo and fire off a couple hundred rounds, more will follow as time allows. I want to be very sure this thing functions flawless before I carry it.

Sounds encouraging.
Amen!

My comments were intended to be on a "broader scale" --
meant that everyone having problems with Shields should send them back.
This will (hopefully) ensure that the guns become reliable and (hopefully) signal S&W that they need to address QA/QC issues.
S&W has had a sterling reputation for quality for a long time. The recent plethora of issues reported with the Shields isn't helping them -- long term or short term. No gun maker wants to be gain the reputation of being the new Kel-Tec or the new Taurus (both of whom, ironically, seem to have improved their QC).

Always shoot a glock before cleaning or just have your own antiseize. I have tubs of it in the shop anyways

This week I was able to put almost 300 rounds thru the shield. I shot 250 rounds using three different commercial brands and about 50 rounds of hand loads. Happy to report the gun performed flawlessly. I think another error free 300 rounds and I'll be a happy/confident camper.

Are you talking about something like Permatex anti-sieze? I have copper based and nickel based Permatex for my cars. Can I use a small dab of the copper based Permatex on my S&W (and my G19 also) to polish the parts of the slide which make contact?
This would not be my full time lubricant, only initially to polish the contact surfaces. Afterward I'll use Frog Lube or Ballistol CLP.

Glock may have changed its recommendations -- but for years they said to shoot a new gun with the copper colored anti-seize "in place" (just as it left the factory).
Once the anti-seize has been rubbed off ("disappears"), clean and lube as directed in the owner's manual.
