Are any of the chainsaws at lowes worth a crap? I have an echo cs670 that got during Katrina cleanup. I finally wore the sprocket on the bar out. Ive got a new one ordered but wont be here before this weekend. I need a saw to clean up with this weekend. Looking in the 18-20” size. My echo runs a 24”. No replacement bars locally to fit it, bigger, smaller or same size.

I have a husqvarna from Lowe’s. It’s ok. I cut a sweet gum tree (18” diameter or so) down a few weeks ago with it and it made it through it but it struggled. I sat it down in the sun a had a pretty hard time getting it cranked a second time.
If I were doing it again I’d get a stihl or echo.

If it’s not a stihl or echo I wouldn’t spend the money

100% correct. I’ve bought the cheap shite and replaced a few times. Echo or stihl for me.

My old chainsaw flooded in Ida, so i bought the Husky 440 from Lowes. I used it on a friends yard after Ida and it was great (way better than the HD Ryobi saw i hD before.) It has 40cc and an 18" bar. Good for most homeowner/camp jobs if its sharp.

If you want a chainsaw that is dependable buy a Stihl.
If you want a chainsaw that the blade stays sharp for an unbelievable amount of time, never touch the ground with your blade.
Not even a little bit.
It is impossible to cut a logs on the ground without touching the ground.

When I bought my Stihl (C&M Equipment in Denham) the guy informed me that the Husqvarna saws at Lowes and Home Depot (and the other big boxes) are all built by Poulan. Now that I know that, I won't buy chain saws from them any more. Pay the extra and get the real deal.

Lol, Poulan, Husqvarna, Jonsered, RedMax and several others are Husky companines.
What he didn't tell you is the same technology is used by ALL saw manufacturers, including Stihl. Yes, a Stihl (some models) uses the same basic construction design as a Poulan.

I’ve got an Echo CS-600P with 20” blade that I bought at Home Depot 8 years ago, it has done a lot of cutting and still is as strong as it was the first time I used it. When the original blade started showing wear at the sprocket and chain track I replaced it with a 20” Oregon blade and it hasn’t missed a lick, I keep 2-3 extra chains for it, it’s cheaper for me to replace the chains than try to have them shortened and sharpened at a saw shop.
Lowe’s where I live handles Husqvarna, if I was gonna buy at Lowe’s I’d get the Husqvarna 455 Rancher 20”, uts about $500.

I have bought craftsman for a small job. I consider it a single use saw. I keep it an when friend need to borrow a saw let them use it till it breaks.
I used it for storm clean up and saved money vs hiring crew. Loaned it next day and it broke. It’s only a $10 part so will fixx to loan to friends. They usually need it for very small work at home. They put new $15 chain on it and works well enough
Granted I used it for an hour on one 12-15 inch tree

I’m a big Echo fan. The only issue I ever had with their gas powered outdoor equipment was once my strong trimmer would start up but then stop/lack of power. It ended up being a mud dauber decided to built a nest on the spark arrester screen, and after cleaning it off it ran like a top.

I like my echo CS600P a lot . The only downfall I’ve found is the chain tensioner. The smallest amount of
pressure and it bends. Other than that all good

I have a Poulan electric chainsaw that I got as a gift 20+ years ago that's still going strong. It serves my purpose of trimming a few branches and ripping down old privacy fences. I just keep the chain sharp and go on about by business.

I don't need to be trying to do anything that my Milwaukee M18 chainsaw can't handle. Bigger than that I need to hire someone. I will never go back to gas, it is that good.

The new battery powered chain saws are pretty amazing. Thinking hard about getting one and saving the Stihl for the big jobs. My dad got a battery powered 16" chain saw, I am not even sure what brand. I used it to cut up some downed trees, and cut up about a half cord of firewood without changing the battery. It was still going strong when i decided that I had enough fun for the day.

I'd spend a little more and get a Stihl. I have the Farm Boss and it's been great. It's nice to be able to go to the Stihl dealer when needed. I'm mechanical but every now and then you come across something above your head. Can't do that at Big Box stores. Before the Stihl I had a Poulan Pro. Can't get parts for it now, even online. It was a good little limb cutter but wouldn't no way cut trunk.
