The new battery powered chain saws are pretty amazing. Thinking hard about getting one and saving the Stihl for the big jobs. My dad got a battery powered 16" chain saw, I am not even sure what brand. I used it to cut up some downed trees, and cut up about a half cord of firewood without changing the battery. It was still going strong when i decided that I had enough fun for the day.

My go-to is always soft plastics. Usually a fluke, brush hog, etc., and usually the darker colors like red shad or june bug.
re: What are some good things to plant in the middle of the woods for deer?

I have actually had pretty good results planting plotspike forage oats in the woods. As long as they get SOME sun, they have done pretty well. I have planted them between rows in a pine plantation. And along the sides of the roads and trails in hardwoods, and both did well.

When I bought my Stihl (C&M Equipment in Denham) the guy informed me that the Husqvarna saws at Lowes and Home Depot (and the other big boxes) are all built by Poulan. Now that I know that, I won't buy chain saws from them any more. Pay the extra and get the real deal.

"First South Farm credit, ask to speak to Ashley McDaniel...she knows this shite frontwards and backwards, she will walk you through the process, and she is Johnny on the spot with everything"
I second this. I used Ashley at First South to buy the tract next to mine this past spring after my regular bank couldn't make it work and LA Land Bank said they couldn't do it. It was fast and easy, and they pay you something back at the end of the year as well.

Another vote for Rory Rorison. I go with him about once a year, and he is hardcore. If you don't have a good trip, it ain't because Rory isn't trying...
Are all of the landings down there back up and running?

I have always used C&M Equipment on Florida in Denham. I bought my Stihl from them also. Have only had good experiences so far.
