Potential advantage for a shortened renewal process by going back to the person/place where you took the initial class.

Funny to see all the black legislators and groups melting down about this.

Bc frankly, they don’t want white people to be armed.

As someone mentioned earlier, if you travel having the CCL provides you reciprocity in many other states. If I’m driving I’m always going to have a firearm. If it’s a state that reciprocates I’m going to have a firearm on my person.

Ive only done a little research on this, you'd only need the permit for states without constitutional concealed carry. (Not a lawyer) I think all states with constitutional concealed carry have said it applies to non residents as long as you are able to own a firearm.

Will this affect and how , the law concerning where a CC permit holder can not have a firearm? Bars, schools, federal buildings etc?? Will those limitations continue

Yeah, otherwise their arguments are retarded. No one needs armed more than the black residents of New Orleans.

only reason i'd renew is reciprocity
. Reciprocity only mattered to have your permit carry over in that state. If another state has constitutional carry then you still don’t need permit… applies to all people not just state residents

So all the places where shootings happen.

Imo the constitution didn’t say anything about where you could bear arms. If you kill someone in one of those places it should be up to a jury to decide your fate.

One of, if not the only good thing about the permit system is that you should learn the laws in the class. Those restrictions still exist and are possibly more complicated. For instance, here in Texas, there are now 4 signs.

-Notice 30.05 says no firearms or illegal weapons. It does not necessarily have to be a specific language that references the statute, so it's quite vague. But permit holders don't have to listen to this sign. It doesn't have to say that on the sign and there's a good chance the person who put it up doesn't even fully understand that point. So be ready to deal with that if you do somehow get caught by an owner.

-Notice 30.06 says no concealed carry of firearms with a permit. It must have the official language. Technically, it doesn't restrict constitutional carry. But again, I doubt the business understands it that way.

-Notice 30.07 says no open carry. It must have the offical language.

-51% sign is for a business that derives 50% of it's revenue from alcohol sales for on premise consumption.

Schools, Federal Buildings, etc. are all still off limits. Some are required to show a sign, some aren't. There are tons of signs that no longer carry any legal weight. For instance, many convenient stores have a "$10,000 fine for unlicensed carry from Texas Alcohol Beverage Commision". It's a completely meaningless sign now that there's constitutional carry. But there's no way to know that without education.

I don't think you need a class or permit to carry, but I highly suggest doing your research and staying up to date with the laws. There are quite a few youtube videos to explain the TX laws. Hopefully some law firms do it for LA too. I spend a lot of time there as well, and although I'm licensed, it's good to understand the new implications.

Not true. Arkansas I know has permitless carry for residents only. I still have to have my Louisiana CCW permit to carry here as I do in Tennessee. Most states with this law are like this, only a few allow non-residents.

I still don’t think that’s true.. I did some research. No language that says permitless carry only applies to state residents

quote:

In terms of reciprocity, since Arkansas has permitless carry, anyone who can legally possess a firearm may carry a concealed firearm on his or her person without a license or permit.

Another bill, Senate Bill 2, which will limit civil liability for people who carry concealed firearms and obtain a permit even though they are not required to do so, earned final passage in the House by a vote of 74-30. Sen. Blake Miguez, R-New Iberia, who sponsored both gun rights bills, said SB 2 would incentivize people to go through the permitting process.

My question is why is it 18?
I thought you had to be 21 to buy a handgun....

I'm not against it, but 21 would be more appropriate. I can see maybe having a rule in there for 18 year olds in the military.
