Nice. I guess this is just a friendly reminder for us little people. Time to renew.

And I thought WA state was weird for a renewal date on 4/1.

A lot of northern states have fishing seasons and so the license expires right before the new season begins.

ETA: not suggesting that's why WA does it, but I know based on my travels to ND, MN, MT, etc... that some states where the lakes totally lock up dont "open" for open water fishing until May or later.

Louisiana is based on the state fiscal year.

How do you go about getting a lifetime license? Every year I think about getting it but it isn't an option on the ldwf website. Anyone have any direction? TIA

Gonna have to go down and throw down a big 5 dolla for my fishing, hunting, big game, and salt water licenses. Age does have advantages.

Back when I got mine, I went to LDWF HQ.

Should be one year from date of purchase. That is how it was when I lived in Florida for a few years.

They don't sell them online. But you can get the application from the LDWF website, fill it out and mail it to LDWF with required documents and a check and they mail your lifetime license back

lifetime

Dumbest thing they ever did in order to generate short-term revenue, but great for the little guy. A lifetime hunting and fishing pays for itself in 5 years if you buy it as an adult; even less if bought for a kid.

So a 30 year old who buys a lifetime and hunts deer, turkeys, small game, and fishes fresh and salt for 30 years will have 25 years of free hunting and fishing basically. Assuming no license increases, the state is losing $2500 on that guy. Now multiple that by the number of lifetime license holders...dumb decision by LA.

shite, I should really buy one...lol!

shite, I spent all day on the water yesterday after sleeping at the camp. Dawned on me last night that today was July 1. Gotta feed the meter for next year.
