I'm looking into buying a 23 to 24' Bay boat. All these dealerships now are pushing Suzuki outboards. Is anybody running 250 Suzuki? How are they compared with Yamaha SHO and Mercury

Thanks Hoss

You aren't very smart if you think Suzuki outboards are garbage.

A buddy of mine has twin 250 zukes on his offshore CAT. 1000+ hours and no issues. That's my only experience with them

Suzuki outboards seem to have solid reviews and reliability so what, exactly, makes them garbage?

A lot of the newer boats are going with Zukes because Yammy dogs are so back ordered. I haven't heard anything bad about them from the folks I know that got them. Hell of a lot better than piece of shite Mercury

You edited your OP.

I see what you're asking now.

Suzuki makes a very good engine. The biggest issue is having someone close to work on it if there is an issue.

Very quiet at "idle", i am almost deaf and i can barely hear them. CARB has made Yamaha almost impossible to buy and Merc is 6 months out with the new ProXS so Zuks have taken over the repower market for the time being. Solid motor but all of them are solid today.

I was happy with my twin 175’s. Didn’t have them but a few years though as I sold the boat.

I'll also throw in I know that the local marine police use twin zukes on the police boat. they just traded them in since the warranty is up and will be getting new ones.

3000 hours when they traded them in. used in the gulf and during heavy seas as you can imagine.
