Mercurys are the only garbage engines.

I have only owned one Suzuki and it was a solid motor. I would have got another one when I ordered my new boat, but the closest dealer is two hours away.

My brother has had two Suziki O/Bs. He swears by them. He just bought a new 23 ft with a 300hp. Quiet as a mouse even when running.

They are good engines. They are not Yamaha good, but good.

They are cheaper and easier to get than Yamaha engines.

Your boat will run fine with them. The 350 is a beast with counter-rotating props.

The boat will have lower/slower resale with them than with Yamaha.

Shouldn’t it since a 300 zuk can be had for $5,000 less than the Yamaha??? Cost of ownership also goes to the zuk from a parts stand point.

You right about that $5000.
The dealer told me that he would put a Yamaha SHO on their for $5000 more. That's a 250hp 25" shaft

A lot of Suzuki dealers tell me they have corrosion issues with the engines. I was looking at one until a guy came into the dealer complaining about this issue. The service manager told him this was a common issue. I kind of looked at a bay boat with a different engine option.

It would be cool to have a Suzuki as you could say it all day long to your fishing buddies. Suuuuuzzzzuuuukiiiii.

Neighbor has one he also replaced due to corrosion on the inside of the engine. He repowered with a Evinrude Etec.

YouTube motor issue same as neighbor.

LINK

Each one told me they had some corrosion issues with Suzuki and they sell them along with other mfg engines.

They are solid motors. Being pushed now due to ongoing supply issues with the large Yamaha's, been going on for a good few years now

Evinrude contracted with Suzuki on the gen 2 Evinrude Etec engines. (from what i've read) This allowed better access to parts for repairs. That is my understanding. I like mine, bought it used but it purrs. It doesn't sound like a whinyass mercury thank God. Seems as if the first gen Etec was garbage though, i have no experience with them but the interwebs seems to dump on them pretty bad.

Solid engines, they are gaining market share big time right now with the supply issues of the new Merc's and SHO's. The 350 is a beast both on the low end and top end with the TRP lower.

Sounds like an anode issue. I have never had a Suzuki, but anytime you run in salty water you have to make sure to replace the anodes when they degrade. Good sacrificial anodes should prevent corrosion problems.

I watch way too much YouTube fishing and boating channels. Almost all are running Suzuki's now days. They all seem to love them. Deermeatfordinner just did a repower on his boat and use a Zuke.
