Xbolt. Great rifle.

I watched the cnbc documentary. Claims its only on rides older than '82 I believe. I think they said over 20-30 people have been killed because just fires if the bolt is barely touched or bumped.
Remington could've fixed it for about 20 cents a rifle but that was too much.
Take it fwiw

Have shot too many rounds through the rifles they are talking about to believe that. Yes you can tune that trigger down to where it will do that. Certainly. But that's something you have to actively try to do while knowing you don't know enough about it and doing it anyway. Not sure that's Remington's fault.

Problem with the Remington isn't what you're describing. Never heard of the problem you're having. Very strange. I'll give you 400 for it.

No, bumping the bolt will not make the rifle discharge. If it does, quit thinking you're a gunsmith and leave your trigger alone.

I have both and love both. My 700 is a 30-06 and the x-bolt is a 300 WSM so they are similar. Everything that is good about the 700 is better on the x-bolt. The fit and finish are much better and so is the accuracy. Granted, I have a Swaro on the x-bolt and a Nikon on the 06.
Do you want the bottom to midrange rifle or the much updated and much nicer one?

Got a 700 PSS .308 with a Leupold Mark 4 that I believe would happily dispute that point with you more accurately.

I have an x boltand I love it. I will say this though I was going to get my son a rem 700 but I ran across the ruger american rifle. It a damn fine shooting rifle.

Was just offered a new 700 .270 with Leupold rings for $400. Worth it?

Cabelas has rifle/scope combo for $430 in 270.
Scope is not quality I'm sure.

If I remember correctly, in that investigation piece, Remington never admitted to any issues.
They settled the lawsuit this year. The guy who invented the trigger didn't like the safety they ultimately went with - $5 a gun in the 40s or 50s would have been more than it is today, but that was the driving point.
They still deny anything is wrong with the trigger, but they paid a bunch of money at the same time. Personally, I think it was a combination of issues that lead to the actual injuries and deaths (if you do everything else wrong, but keep the muzzle pointed in a safe location, everybody goes home, right?), but the research was fairly conclusive that a combination of the trigger (generally, if adjusted), the safety, a particular pattern of wear and the ADs were repeatable.
If I opted for a 700, I'd likely go with an aftermarket trigger - the Timney seems to be a fairly popular option these days. I can't say, for sure, I've fired a 700 with the newer trigger.

Get the Ruger gun site scout rifle. Then let us come over and shoot it.

I bought my Remington 700 BDL SS with detachable mag about 10 years ago. Topped it with a Nikon monarch. Paid about $1100 for the setup. I don't feel like i'll ever need to buy another deer rifle. Love it.

OP
I had my powpows 700adl that would not hit the primer hard enough. Its been 20yrs ago, but I believe it was the sear spring they had to replace to fix.
It wasnt seating the round good and when you pulled trigger the round would move forward so it didnt get the full force of the firing pin.
Im thinking the sear spring has nothing to do with seating the round but Im pretty sure thats what gunsmith replaced and never had another problem.
love the 700s and x bolts. The 700 shoulders better for me but im 6'7"

Stock for stock? I will gladly shoot against a 700. But I believe it's you and infidel that build long range rifles, then of course your 700 will be more accurate than an out the box Xbolt. I don't believe that the OP is looking for a built gun either.
OP, that sounds like a fine deal. Not great enough to make me try and buy it first but you shouldn't be unhappy with the purchase. Just make sure that it's the caliber you want, that was my biggest buyers remorse in the past. Settled for a different caliber because I saved a few bucks, but close a lot more by the time I sold it and bought the one that I wanted.
