I'm in the early stages of getting a new boat (meaning convicting my wife). I'm going from a 2010 NauticStar 1810 w/ 115 4 stroke Yamaha. The boat hasn't really given me any trouble just want something bigger. I would like to stick with NauticStar. Anyone have any recommendations?
New boat needs to be at least 20-21' with at least a 150 hp motor.
Would like to spend less than 40,000 all set up.

I'd say you need a minimum of 200hp for the 20' boat. You might could get by w/ 150 but it'd be slightly underpowered. Just look for deals in the 21-24' range.

I'm with you on wanting a boat, but I just haven't figured out what crime to convict my wife of yet. Once she's out of the picture, I'm sure I can get whatever I want!

It's just 45 years old. Might be a decent boat if you had a place to keep it.

My .02, you don't NEED a 200 hp engine. 22' pathfinder will go 40 knots with a 150, don't see Nautic Star being any different. If you're a tournament fisherman, then yeah those few extra mph will help but a 150 is plenty for a 20-22' bay boat and you'll burn less.

I have a Frontier 2104 with a yamaha f200. 2 people loaded I'll do 53mph/6k rpms and 45-47mph/5k rpms. 4 people will drop the speed by 3-4mph. I average 4.7mpg and cruise at 45mph. Hull is 8'3" beam and 1800lbs. Id go with a 200. 150hp would be running 6k to see 45mph.

The new NS 2140 is 28,600 with a 150 and no trailer. it runs low 40's with an F115, I think their older hull ran upper 40's with an F150.

Aren't Blue Waves about the same price wise?

you can get by but you'd wish differently in the end. I owned a 20' champion w 150 yammy.

I'm in the same 'boat', own a NS1910 and as soon as this flood stuff is over and done and I get back in my house Im buying a 21/22' bay boat. Love my NS but always got 3-4 fishing, and the 1910 is tight. I may stay NS but I've looked hard at Blazer Bay and Pathfinders. I'll just keep checking until I find the right boat/setup for me. May go 24' if the price is right!
