Bergara Highlander .280 Ackley
140gr Accubonds Copper Creek Cartridge Co loads
Bushnell LRHSi 4.5-18x44
Mesa Precision stock
Area 419 Hellfire Brake

Seekins Precision PH2 .308
Federal Trophy Bonded 165gr
Trijicon Tenmile HX 3-18x50
Factory Seekins stock
Area 419 Hellfire Brake

I hate the loudness of brakes but I want any of my kids to be able to shoot every rifle in my safe. My 8yr old can shoot the .280AI all day long due to the brake.

Barrett MRAD in 300PRC.

SOCOM tested every long range platform on the market and then went to procurement to have a platform made wity the best of everything they tested, and the MRAD is what they got.

It's the best long range sniper platform in the world.

Put a Nightforce ATCR 7-35 on it and it will only run you about $10K!!

MRAD is cool, you got one?

I'd rather a lefty AI, but to each his own.

How did the "Remage" conversion go? What was the factory caliber What caliber is the Remage now? I've got an old Remington in 243 Win I've considered for a Remage conversion of some sort.

Nice setups. Yea, brakes make a huge difference with recoil with the sound trade off. Have a .50 Beowulf with a brake and when I shoot it.... well lets just say its loud.

I did this one and my son’s rifle so far.
The conversion was straightforward and easy. I ordered everything from Northland.
My son’s was a .243 and mine was a .308. They are both now 6.5cm.
Setting the headspace in a Remage is super easy if you have a barrel vise.

375 enabler with 407 gr solids. The projectile length is comical.

If she were left hand, this would be my next rifle.

With the Howa action does it feel similar to Weatherby?

Have you tried shooting with a silencer?
They help with recoil.
My kids have rarely shot a rifle without one.

I suppose this is a good thread to ask.

What's it worth? My dad has a Savage 110 BA .338 Lapua with a Nightforce NXS 3.5-15x50, never fired. Bought it and never brought it out anywhere with a long enough range to fire. He was talking about going trade it in and was asking what he should try to get for it.

I've done two Savage conversion (270 Win--->221 Fireball and 270 Win--->20 Practical) and one "Howage" (223 Rem---->20 Vartag) and all went well except for the stuck factory barrel on the Howa; had to get a gunsmith to remove the factory barrel. Sounds like the "Remage" conversion is pretty much like a Savage or "Howage" conversion. The gun in the pic looks good.

Both barrels that were taken off were rusted in and I had no chance of getting the action off. I sent both actions off to be blue printed and timed. The company I used removed the barrels.

I’m curious how you long range shooters got into it, as far as learning the basics/mechanics of long-range? I’m a good shooter, but no precision guy. If I’m shooting a deer at 300 yards I’m golden, but paper at the same I might be all over the place.

I wanted to learn how to build a bolt action rifle. Did tons of research deciding what I wanted to do. Built the gun and started shooting. Once I got my loads down, entered into a f-class match (600 yds).

They taught me a lot

And I’ll tell you that the trigger in long range shooting is one of the most important pieces on the gun. You have to have a good trigger.

I am a pistol guy. I shoot competitions and practice almost daily. I saw the rifle in my previous post and had to have it. The older guys at the range....and I am 56....took me under their wings and taught me all about distance shooting, loads, MOA, thumb placement, etc.... I have been hooked. I shoot pistols still almost everyday with Sunday reserved for rifles.
