How do you know when you are aiming 3ft over the target? Your pistol will be covering the entire target, and you will be focused on the from sight as well.

When you take this shot do you hold for wind or does the wind not affect the 9mm or .22LR at this distance?

Front sight. On head. Point the size of the silhoettw above head. Front sight on point. Bang.

As for wind, you don't do dumb shite like this on windy days.

A 10mph crosswind and a .22 at 200 yards requires math. Hell you'd need to watch multiple points in the grass as the wind won't be consistent across that distance. And the flight time can be more than a second if you're shooting 147s

Figuring out the distance to aim up only took watching the dust clouds. No ballistics chary needed.

I will add, anyone who believes this to be difficult has never tried to do it. It's surprisingly easy after you realize the gun as capable of it

I have over 200 LEO agencies as clients in 18 states. Many of them are ex marines, army infantry and a few airborne guys. A few of my clients have pistol teams that compete in national matches and are pretty badass shooters.

Post a video. If you can honestly do it I’ll cash app you $100.

Keep your hundred. If I get home before dark I'll go do it for the laughs.

.22 or 9mm?

Ah so you can only do this on certain times of the year?

I’m not saying this shot is impossible because it is definitely possible. I just doubt that you are doing it with one shot using irons.

It's an open field shielded on the north side by a tree line. South side is a mile of open field.

If there is a wind out of the south in south Louisiana shite is going downhill quick.

I do not use optics on handguns and I'm the awful person who prefers stock glock sights.

Excuse the shite videography. The only phone holder was the one in the dash.

218 yards. Can't do 225 at this very moment, the hay is piled right behind the vehicle. I shoved it all back and didn't realize the marker was for 200m rather than 225 yards like normal.

Even still. The shot isn't that hard.

I am a former cop. I would love to say no, that isn’t true, but I have seen way too many cops who didn’t know their arse from a hole in the ground when it came to firearm safety. At the same time I have seen a lot of cops who did and are very proficient when it comes to firearm safety.

Hopefully you run into a better group of cops somewhere along the line.

Helluva shot though. I’d love to give that a try myself. My issue is that finding even 100 yards where I shoot is next to impossible. Lots and lots of trees. I appreciate you videoing your shot and putting that that idea out there.

Folk should give credit where credit is due. You made a statement, backed up what you said, and damn it was nice.

I think I can squeeze out 100 yards next week where I’d shoot. I’m looking forward to giving it a try.

If they were smart they would have bet on the follow up shot. I whiffed it into the range about a foot low

At 100 you can likely do center mass consistently. Guesswork says a 6-10 inch drop.

Thought I recognized the rando name. It's not a terribly hard shot. I think people would be surprised with what they could do with a 22.

But still, in almost 15 years I've never been flagged by a LEO and I see multiple everyday....and no I'm not a cop...far from it.

On the job, not unless they are cleaning a gun.

Off the clock, anyone who handles a gun day in and day out slowly becomes lackadaisical. Until the moment they have a desk pop. If they are lucky and they have always followed the rule about pointing it in a safe direction... It's a learning experience.

Unfortunately, people don't.

I shoot my Sig p322 at a 12”x18” (or whatever it is) plate pretty regularly at ~100yds. If it isn’t windy I can pretty regularly hit it 2-3 times out of 10

I will say it was a very nice shot. I stand corrected.

I have my own little range I have set up in the woods on my property. I cleared out a swath for 25 yards so we could shoot multiple targets. Right now I only have 4”, 6”, and 8” plates. I have a rack of six 4” plates, a rack of six 6” plates, and assorted 8” plates that I can move. The 8” plates are just a 2x4 with a plate hanger on it and I screwed the 2x4 in to cut up sections of a tree (use what you have). I am jealous of y’all who have 100-200 yards to shoot. I ‘think’ I can get 100 yards if I shoot from an elevated rise across my front yard and into the section of woods I cleared out. What we have is nice for the wife, kids and I, but it is realistically a pistol only range.
