Looking for a nice left handed rifle I can pass down through the generations for years to come.

I found a lefty Browning X-bolt Medallion 308 that I like. Any other suggestions out there? Browning is around 900 but I am willing to go higher.

There are a lot of good rifles out there, and they all make a lefty (I think). You can get a Savage for $500 that will drive tacks until Jesus comes back, get the $900 Browning, or go drop $3k on a custom rifle. Are you buying it just to look at, or are you going to hunt with it and get dinged up?

Yeah I will hunt with it, but sparingly. More of a bow hunter now. Also take good care of my guns.

My Father bought me a browning a-bolt micro medallion when I was 9 years old. Micro being the youth model which only meant the stock is shaved off an inch. I still use it to this day and I am 30 now and stand 6'1. Just had to move the scope up over time. Bottom line is I love it and mine is a 7mm 08 which is great if you have youth in mind. basically a necked down 308 that can be loaded down for kids to shoot comfortably if you had youth in mind

I bought my stepson a browning bolt action 7 mag about 15 years ago and it was in the 800 range. I just looked on browning's site and they are 959 and up.

You can look up current production, limited availability and discontinued.

I have a Tikka t3 in 30-06 and a Ruger MK2 in 270. Love them both. Will never part with them.

Tikka has some rebates going on right now.

Not exactly a rifle but the Savage 220 or 212 slug gun acts like one and the price is right on. The accuracy of these guns is unlike any slug gun I’ve ever shot! I wouldn’t hesitate to pull the trigger at 200 yards with these guns. You can get the 220 for $540 at Cabela’s in Texas and it comes with a decent weaver scope too.

I have that rifle in 6.5 CM, I like it ok, but it doesn't have the accuracy that I expected. Bought a LH Savage axis in the same caliber, It outshoots the Tikka by a big margin, but it's not nearly as nice of a rifle. Go figure.

So a month or two ago I built (bought parts and assembled) a bolt action rifle.

I had done several ARs both 80% and finished and 3 polymer 80 Glocks.

The bolt action was way easier. The only difficult part was getting the headspace correct. That’s done with a go and no-go gauges. Had I had a barrel vise it would have taken 2 min.

Only reason I’m saying this is, if you want a legacy rifle you can build one and build it exactly the way you want and it will likely outshoot mass produced rifle.

Interesting article on this author's top six left handed bolt action rifles. One should also add Savage to the list. I didn't realize that many companies made left handed bolt actions. It's outside your question, but you could also consider non bolts like the Encore or Ruger #1. If was looking for a left handed bolt, my first 2 choices would prob be a Savage or Tikka, depending on how the gun fit me and handled for me.

I'm assuming from your interest in the medallion that you want something that looks as good as it performs. I had the same desire a few months ago and looked at a bunch of guns. xBolt Medallion, M70 supergrade/maple/etc, bergara timber, a few others. At some point I stumbled on an Rowa, an Austrian company that does semi-custom switch barrel rifles. Click on the configurator to build up what you want (don't worry about the Euros, you will pay the same number but in dollars ordering through TR imports). TR imports, Their only US importer, happens to be a few blocks from my office in Fort Worth so I went over there and looked at a bunch of them. I ended up getting one in .243 and got it in a few weeks ago. I am very happy with it. I finally got a chance to start figuring out what it likes today. I tried 4 different off the shelf loads. 2 gave me 1.15" groups and the other two came in around 0.75". I'm by no means a good shot so I was more than pleased. I'll probably end up getting a .308 barrel for it as well. Anyway, enough rambling, just another option to consider. Here are a couple pictures of how mine looks.

Nice looking wood. Thx for the heads up. I've never heard of Rowa. I need to check them out.

How much was the Rowa? I did the configurator, but I was up like $2800 before I quit. Just wonder what they actually run.

I was a little under 2k with tax for the one above.

Edit: that is the “exclusive c” stock option for reference. There also seems to be a barrel size that comes standard, a couple options that they will do for a small increase and then they get expensive fast if you want something unusual.

I'm 53 and have never had a "left handed Rifle". I had a brass deflector for my M-16 in the Army (most of the time), but I've never had an issue with a civilian rifle.

ETA: I don't understand the need. Is this for some type of competitive shooting?
