Who on the OB knows what leaves makes a good toilet paper substitute?

If so, which type of leaf is your favorite?

magnolia are the biggest, but they will crack

pecan leaves are soft, but you have to get a lot of them

if it has come down to leaves, usually it means it is an emergency, and I just grab whatever is close, or use my sock

Can't help you. If I do force myself to shite out of doors, it is coming out with such velocity wiping usually ain't necessary, and when I do, I sacrifice t shirt sleeves and underdrawers.

I always keep two things with me in my truck at all times, especially when I am in the woods. 1. my gun 2. a roll of toilet paper. you never want to mess up and think it is a leaf and it be something like poision oak.

Palmettos can be used with great effectiveness if you're careful.

1. American Elm. Decent size with symmetrical raised vanes for maximum scrapage

2. Sycamore. Shear size gets it here plus rough enough to get you by

3. Amercan Basswood. Size and good friction. Very close to the Sycamore

4. Mulberry. See basswood

fresh magnolia still has a lil fuzz on it. Then you can used the "cupped" side to scoop out your shite.

Great grandparents always used corn cobs.

Ouch...that would bring a new meaning to the phrase "got a case of the red-arse."

Sycamore

+1

Unfortunately our lack of sycamore trees often leaves me with no choice other than the palmetto

I would use sycamore if possible.

Sycamore. In my opinion they are hands-down the best. Maybe not during deer season, but from March-June whey they are green and new they are damn near exactly like toilet paper. Walk through the woods with my 5 year old and she'll point out all the sycamore leaves and tell you the same.

Muscadine grape leave are about the best.

Spanish moss works even better, if you're willing to suffer from chiggers eating your crotch alive for the next month…not that I'd really know that.

Rip off draws or cut a sock

Or just keep one of those little small packs of Kleenex in your bag
