Great concept. Maybe our next Attorney General should be a welder instead of an attorney.

Last time I checked, being an educator wasn't a prerequesite to be an effective administrator. So you are hugging the status quo and hiding behind inner city school arguement.

I know far too much about this to argue with someone who obviously doesn't know shyt about it. And I say that respectfully.

I do not think that reform is not needed.

In fact the only thing that I will give the Jindal administration for is at least they are trying to do something. Whether or not it does more harm than good is a matter of opinion. I am just glad they aren't just sitting around waiting for our education system to fix itself.

No, not another puppet that is a part of our problem. Someone who is familiar enough with the Louisiana education system to know what our problem is. I appreciate John White's resume, but the same things don't always work in different places. In this case, lets hope they do. If this reform improves our average scores, and fixes the education system as a whole, then I will give credit where credit is due. Hell....I would probably vote for Jindal as President!

I think we have pretty much covered our opinions on the way teachers are now being evaluated, and graded.

Do you have anything to say in defense of our Governor wanting to make changes to the Louisiana education system employee pensions that would in effect cause employees who have already paid in over their time of employment to receive less than what they paid in?

LINK

The article is almost a year old, but I couldn't find anything new on the topic. I'm pretty sure this is still in court though.

Ever playing football isn't a prerequisite for coaching, but if I had to hire a football coach you could probably guess who I would pick out of the two.

This thread left the tracks at OT speed.

Back to OP-at the rate that our asshat White House occupant (refuse to call him President) is throwing tax money at his contributors to rip down rigs while BP is still fresh, we better make a few reefs out of them, or our snapper fishing will become Florida snapper fishing, trying to dump washing machines and Chevy station wagons to aggregate a few fish. And working for Big Oil, I resent the SOB using money we paid to create these reefs to build a new Charity Hospital, keep all the 4 years schools afloat that should be Junior Colleges, and other BS our legislators piss money away on.

As I posted earlier, I saw this coming two years ago. Hell I got an email still sitting in my draft box about this after being told to stand down. We should have had the balls to file suit then when there was over 60 mil sitting in the fund. But nobody wanted to cross Piyush, so I guess in a way we deserve the corn-holing we're going to get.

This is the problem. We have a bunch of people who "know it all" (Geauxtiga) who tell us the way things need to be. We've been listening to this for decades with no signs of improvement and more money thrown at it. When people like you realize that you really do not know "far too much" and humble yourself to the fact that you know shite, maybe then we will make some progress.

Oh--and ya'll fricked my thread all up.

Someone needs to stand up. He's getting totally out of control with our state assets.

I was in a public hearing the other day and heard an appointee say:

I am not a ________ guy, I just chair this committee.

For the record, __________ is the reason the board exists. That is downright terrifying to me. The foxes are running the hen house.

This is a really misguided statement. The rigs that are being torn down are not out there drilling for 60 years. Those are old production platforms that are no longer producing. Instead of leaving giant iron eyesores rusting in the gulf waters, they salvage the major steel structure which can be recycled. The issue comes with what happens below the surface. Do they salvage all the way to the floor or leave the awesome reef that has built up over 30-40 years?

I like your style, Captain. Where is your home port? I'm a Leeville/Fourchon guy. I may be "the guy" for not knowing, but I think we probably fish the same waters.

The only excuse not to leave the lower legs intact is navigational hazards, but what is the deepest draft vessel out there? Subs shouldn't be creepin', anyway.

Your entire post tells me YOU are the one that's misguided. It's obvious that you've never fished around any of these structures. The older ones are almost always the most productive, as the ecosystems they support have had more time to develop, and in the case of the shallower ones, the shell pads put down when the well was installed were larger.

More than that, the ones that HAVE been converted to reefs are the hottest fishing spots in the GOM, as they receive less pressure than the standing rigs.

Why don't you go watch some of the underwater footage shot by Captain Al Walker and come back and apologize for being so off base.
