Anyone heard about this? The climbing sticks had an immediate stop use notice due to injury reports.

I have the carbon SS which was the model before the carbon synergy. I didn't know people were having issues with the newer ones. The carbon SS are good and lightweight but the only thing I have noticed is that if you use them on hardwoods with a really smooth bark (especially an american beech tree), they don't hold at all. It is also very important that you make damn sure it bit into the tree before you step on it.

Anyone had an issue with the newer synergy model?

I have the same ones you do but have never used them. This makes me want to throw them in the trash and stick with metal.

Read about it on social media the last few days. I use Tethrd sticks with Latitude platform so no issues for me.

I wonder if they changed something about the manufacturing process. My brother has had the Treestyx (which Lattitude bought and started producing as synergy) and has never had trouble with them. I haven't seen anything on Facebook about the Treestyx having trouble, either.

From a few of the pics I've seen on FB of the failed synergy sticks it looks like the roll pins are backing out leaving just the glue to hold the steps on. The tubes aren't breaking, the plastic step pieces are slipping off of it.

Got into it with someone on a Facebook group about this. Its absolutely ridiculous. To bring a product to market well over the standard market value and then for it to have life threatening implications is terrible. The "stringent testing" they did obviously didnt work. It hits too close to home. I'm bringing mine back for a refund and going with the Trophyline Hyperlite sticks. I'm just going to have to deck them out in a genesis 3d printing stick stack stow system.

Where are these roll pins located? Would love to locate mine and make sure this doesn't happen to me!

Idk exactly where but somebody had pulled the cap off the tube and showed them sticking out. They hold the steps in addition to the glue.

My dad just got the Hyperlites and I got the Carbon SS

I have confidence in the Carbon SS. One piece molded carbon fiber is pretty strong.

That being said, I've seen folks toss critical climbing gear from trees, into trucks on packs, etc with reckless abandon. You really have to keep in mind what these pieces of equipment are designed and asked to do. Don't destroy the gear that is keeping gravity from doing it's thing

People are completely forgetting about the glue job. If done right you don't need pins. The problem is two fold from what I can tell. The pins are not installed to where they even do anything, and the epoxy job is junk likely to poor prep work on the shaft. They obviously had poor QC/QA when they started production along with cheaping out on components.
