Taking my dad. Who else is in line to launch. This is crazy! Never thought it would start well outside the gate. Wonder how early the first truck got here.
Good luck boys!

They actually have people that spend the night out there the night before to start lining up at the gates. Great fishing there but needs a few weeks before I'll go.

Does green jeans sit out there and watch the show?

My Weld-Craft 1436 with a Tohatsu 20 4-stroke got stolen a while back around St. Martinville. That would probably be a good place to see if it pops up. Numbers were 2450 in white.

Damn thieves pushed it down the hill into the smallest bayou, CUT the winch strap, and drove it off.

Homey the Clown and I went for opening day last year and there was nobody there. We got there super early and waited about an hour before anyone else showed up. By the time the sun started coming up there were only about a dozen boats.

Had a big article in Louisiana Sportsman this month about how good the fishing is. That may be a reason

We caught 15 today. Fished from 1:30ish until 5:30ish. Nothing real big. A few two pounders, and a bunch of small ones. Decent trip until I broke my motor.

Headed out there in the morning. Hopefully better than salt water was in black lake today.

Headed there in the yak tomorrow morning. Gonna hit the motorless pool. Are yaks allowed in the rest of the pool, or just D?

I've seen kayaks in the regular area in years prior. Not necessarily this year or last year, but I've seen em in there for certain the year before last. Multiple times, in fact.

Good to know. I’d rather not mix it up with the motor boats, though. Remember that time one boat came flying by you and me and came probably within a foot of your boat? Yeah, I can imagine one of those jackasses doing that while I’m in a kayak.

Yeah, surprisingly, even with the million boat trailers there sunday, the water didnt seem crowded. But a little too much traffic to fish the canals, which is what ultimately led me blowing out my motor... Hopefully you can find some in the D pool. Knowing you, I'm sure you will. I was using my trusty go to, but my buddy caught mostly on a speed worm and a senko

They are allowed. Before social media hopelessly ruined the pool I had good luck on the north canal in a pirogue. Its wide enough to feel safe when boats go by. Honestly though there are no fish in the pool anymore.

I’m bringing 3 rods. Senko, fluke, and frog. There is no reason to bring any other bait to that place.

But I also packed some rage swimmers just for fun.
