x3. Found my dog off hunting lab pedigree as i preferred this style of breeding (dogs proven in competitive environments matched together, rather than a breeding business). looked for a long time and the perfect match came up. she's incredible.

just get a feel for temperament of the dogs because some dogs are meant to really go since they're bred for field trials or hunt tests. i think most of the time the 'breeder' will understand if that litter is right for you and give you a chance or steer you away.

I got a pup in March from southern oak kennels. They do British labs like wild rose. First British I’ve ever had but really like him so far. He’s a little softer than my other American labs but smarter and definitely has that on/off switch which is something I wanted. He’s been very trainable for basic obedience stuff. Sending him back to them for training in January bc I’m too busy to train a dog these days. They put out some great dogs though and have some different (less pressure) methods for training that I like.

Is this your litter? Females still available? Do you have a pic of Cane?

Really appreciate the help everyone, this has given me a bunch of leads and great advice!

It’s not my litter but I’m getting a dog next weekend that trains dogs from this line.

Another facebook link

There’s a couple pictures in the comments of that post of a dog from the first litter. If you contact Trent he can tell you all you need to know about them

Pudelpointer are excellent bird dogs and make great waterfowl retrievers. They have the same breeding criteria mentioned that Drathaars breeders use. They are only breed for hunting and most breeders won’t sell if your not a hunter. They are not has fur crazy as a Drath and usually stick to bird hunting when in the field. They are not a boutique breed and are as old, if not old than labs. The PP organization will never allow them into AKC because they only want them breed for hunting characteristics. So to say that the US breeders aren’t breeding hunting lines is completely false and actually just the opposite. I would suggest a reputable breeder out of NAPPA (I believe is the acronym). The PP is were the Draht get most of its field nose, bird drive and water retrieving characteristics. Which is why it was one of the base breeds for the Draht. Draht are bad arse dogs. They say most are not great around kids cats cows etc (I have all those) they love to search for things, kill it, and bring it back to the owner. They are cool as hell. I just wanted a water retrieving bird dog with an excellent nose so I went with the PP.

Also had labs mostly through out life . Lots of breeds will swim, get ducks and bring them back to you. None will do it quite as well as a Lab. But at the end of they day you get the same result. That’s a win in my book. It’s the other 320 days out of the year that I was more concerned about. Shedding was the main reason I looked for another breed.

Good luck on your pup. Go British if you chose a Lab

Justin and Brad should not be in the same convo as that place in Kiln. Justin and Brad run elite operations full of well bred and highly trained animals. That puppy mill in Kiln is the exact opposite. Bottom line, end of story.
