In my hunter's safety class on Saturday, the instructor was saying that they expect a lottery for bear tags within the next five years.

They definitely aren't endangered in Tensas Parish.

They are well fed and destructive critters.

That's not going to fly.

I'd bet money that we'd have a small black bear season soon

They have to wait a minimum of 10 years once they are removed from the endadgered list to have any kind of season on them.

It’s so political. We had a season two years ago in NWFL. Filled the quota in 12 hours, thy shut down the season and haven’t opened it since

Charismatic megafauna. People with no idea what is actually happening on the ground are always going to use the Endangered Species Act as a weapon and not the protection it was created for.

After 45 years wandering the woods of La i finally saw a bear in the wild this spring. In Yosemite.

If you don't put out a bunch of corn, it's hard to have problems with bears in LA. Out here in CA though, if you leave any food in your car overnight in the Lake Tahoe area, they will destroy your shite.

No 10 year wait. They did want the three groups to link up. Problem is the bears near the gulf were from Minnesota or such. They also are the least likely group to meet up. I saw 7 a couple of months ago in Madison Parish in a 26 hour time period. There’s just a lot of bears.

Scientific data was also overlooked when they were protected. Not much difference between the Arkansas Hill bear and Louisiana bear. Soon they’ll interbreed.

That's what I thought.

And it's not that they wanted the 3 groups to link up. That was a requirement for delisting.

The genetics throughout the population are pretty screwy.
