I probably should have let it walk until next year.

You killed a corn snake. Congrats. Easy money. I sell every one I catch. $50.

Not quite hand. I cut its head off to inspect the fangs. Copperhead

I thought he did too, but look at the horizontal scales on the underbelly.

No chance, as if the markings weren't distinct enough, look at that tail. Slender, little taper.

I tried . My wife ran him over on the way out so I took some OB pics (cut off his head for misleading ID purposes and got a Team Glock pic).

Amazing to me how many people in LA can't identify snakes. There are about a dozen that are common and very few look alike. Assumed it was common sense for those that hunt and fish.

That's on my top 3 list of snakes I want to catch:
1. Indigo
2. Louisiana Milk Snake (my brother caught one when we were kids)
3. Corn Snake (we never had them where I grew up)

Just missed a very large black racer yesterday. Had my snake hook within 6 inches of him before he bolted, and I whiffed so badly it was downright embarrassing.

I had a corn snake for 4 years, that's exactly what its belly looked like.

I've still never seen a corn snake.

There are racers at our disc golf course, but they are too fast for me to get close to in the underbrush.
