I left my 4 year old chocolate out for the first time last week. Shut all doors and picked up any of the stuff he likes to grab. Didn’t tell my wife until after the fact. I was a nervous wreck when I got home, because he can be a Tasmanian devil, thinking he and I would both be sleeping outside that night. Luckily for me he was all good, but that’s a rare occurrence.

Yep, I didn’t give our other two free range until they were at least 5 years old...

Had my last two trained at Wonderlabs in Carrier Mississippi. Will look into it..

This is our third lab, never had any issues with the other two.
That means you are past due to come home to a shredded sofa, kitchen island, drapes, or 3D deer target. Past due to come home to a dog that has chewed all the siding from 3' down off the side of the house. Past due to come home to a dog that chewed the door frame off a closet, or pulled the carpet up.
Good luck

Assuming it’s though someone legit, it can be a big help. Probably won’t use it at all for a number of years barring trauma like getting g hit by a car or hunting injuries, but it can make a difference after age 8 or so.
My weim lived 13 years and was in good health until the last year. He cost me on average about $1k a month for his last 9 months, not including a 2k emergency vet Bill at the very end. Yeah, I know. Crazy to spend that kind of money on a dog, but he was my baby and the money wasn’t a problem.

My last lab who I hunted with, had breast cancer and needed a mastectomy, also when we finally had her fixed at 3, her girl parts were really vascular and needed a drain placed. Ran up the med bills pretty good..
Spent about 1200 on training, was worth every penny.

Contact your vet and see who they recommend. And look in to your employee benefits package. My wife's (no) employer provides 50% off Progressive Pet Insurance. I think it's $15-20/month

My wife has a big ole cur dog that can be satan at times but I've been leaving him inside while she works on the weekend and so far the only thing he has torn up is paper. Doesn't touch anything else. Big ole goober

Bart ran a nice operation, great guy. I believe he sold it but still is lightly involved, but haven't seen him in a few years. Ricky Elston with Southern Tide Retrievers is very close to Carrier, he's pretty damn solid for gundog, hunt test, and obedience work.
As for pet insurance. Most people I know use "Pet Plan" with great results.

A buddy of mine priced them all out versus quality of coverage and said that travelers is the best one by a good amount, and it is slightly cheaper than most as well. I just switched my lab over to travelers.

Bart trained my other two..
He sold the operation to the guy who worked with him, and it’s still based at his house in Carrier..
Souther Tide is the guy who trained dogs with the military?

Oh mine is a big ol goober too. Slash dumbass slash idiot. He’s just bad. Sweet dog that gets to hang out freely with our 10 month old, but counter surfs like a muther. He has a soft mouth so will carry stuff around, until the moment he gets to sit down with said item then shreds like he was an 80s skateboarder. Phenomenal blood trailer. The exact opposite was a house pet.

Ricky is a solid guy. Fuked up and sold a dog I bought from him years ago.
