John Deere vs kubota?

100 or so acres, front bucket, 4wd, disk, bush hog, box blade
Using it for typical trail mowing, foodplot prep, and various chores for the property
How much horsepower and what is your thoughts on green vs orange?

100 acres? All finished? How much will you be maintaining?
And what's your budget

How much open fields?
Orange over green if you buy something under 50 hp.

This. Really all depends how much you have open. Sounds like hunting land if you are doing trails and food plots so you made only need about a 30 horse or so.

Kubota. I'd only go Deere if I was farming crops.
Somewhere around 50 horse would do you fine.

~125, all finished , nice roads and plots already in place, lots of roads but only about 5-7 acres of combined plots
Currently they have a low 30 hp tractor with a rotary tiller and no disk, maybe I am overthinking but I feel it would need a little more
Seeing some pretty sweet combo deals on kubota packages with trailer , 4wd, loader, bush hog and box, but no disk for 25-30K depending on HP

We have a little 30 at the shop for small bushhogging, blading the road etc. that said, I'd lean to at least a 50 if I was you. Orange, green doesn't matter at that range.

What's your budget? A lot of people have suggested 50 hp, good place to start your search.
As far as JD or Kubota, whichever dealership/service dept is most convenient for you.
Fan of green here but Kubota makes a great smaller tractor, don't think you will be disappointed by either.

I don't think either are bad choices.
I have two Kubotas a 35 hp and a 90 hp. I use the 35 for 70% of my work around the deer lease. That HP is pretty good, I think hard to go wrong with 50hp or so but I may use the one there first and you can always sell it if you aren't happy with it.

A 50hp tractor is a great all around size tractor, I've been running a JD 5105 for years, lately been on a 5055E and kubota mx5200 alot, you can't go wrong with either brand both great tractors, if I was buying new would be the mx5200, it does everything I want and a reasonable price

For sure anything I the 30-50hp will do the job. I big factor is what do you have to tow it with if you need to move it?
I have a old 1979 Ford 2000 which is a 32hp. Great little tractor to maintain roads, clipping around pecan trees. My cutter is 6', my disk are 6' and the grader box is 6'. I have a set of 3 point forks that I use to lift logs with that an avg weight is around 2500lbs. No problem there. I know I lifted logs well over 3000lbs easy.
Just have to use the brakes to steer.

My Uncle was a tractor and lawn mower dealer from 1962 to 2007. He was JD, Kubota, and then Case IH with mix of Belarus, Agco, Taft, Mahindra. At one time he was one of the highest volume in sales Belarus tractors in the country. Then I took over his shop so the 4 hardware stores could get lawnmowers and compact tractors.
I find in 50hp and under Kubota and Mahindra make a better product than JD.
Alot of it is really going to be finding a good dealer who stocks parts, has quick turn around in the service center, and treats you right. Where I built up alot of my customer base in all my stores or shop is having parts instock, tires instock with ability to change out tires while customers wait, quick turnaround with problem fixed the first time, free delivery within a certain radius of my shop or stores, and well trained service dept.
The quirkiest tractors I still have parts for are Belarus. My uncle sold so many in the 1980's and he loaded up on parts. No frill tractor at the time made for Eastern European or Russian farmer.

At that size, my first priority would be dealer service/location. After that, I'd go test drive them and go with the one that is most comfortable and doesn't beat you to death.

Agree with the above response, go with the brand that has better service in your area if you can determine that. Everything is going to break sooner or later.
I work with a lot of farmers and agricultural producers as part of my job and for the most part they stick to case/IH or deere for rowcrops, but then use the Kabota for utility tractor, I might be onto something…
But 50 hp seems a little light if you're going to be pulling a big shredder, I would almost recommend something closer to 100. We use a 4010 JD that has 90 hp which seems just about right for the 12 foot shredder we have. i've never met anyone that wished they had less horsepower.

If he's got money to spend I would recommend a JD 5100E
Agree on having a dealer close by though.

I would get more HP than what you think you need.
I would get a Kubota over a Deere, but the main thing is buy from a dealership that handles a lot of small tractors and has good service. If you buy a Deere from a dealer that mainly deals with large ag tractors, more than likely your little tractor will be "pushed to the back burner."

This is kind of case by case sometimes. If the dealership is in kind of a remote agriculture area, they don't have those kind of service guys, but pretty much all of the bigger ag dealerships that are in towns of say 5-10K+ population centers usually have enough residual business that they keep a couple guys in the shop that don't go on farm service calls and stick to working on those small tractors, lawn mowers, UTV's, etc.

Yep. Deere dealer near us went to mainly small tractors/mowers oh I dunno 10 years ago and their ag service has gone down.
