I peel them, slice kinda thin, bit of red wine vinegar (or any vinegar), lemon pepper and salt.
My mother had this on the counter every night growing up as a snack before dinner. And I do as well.

I just so happen to have all of those ingredients in the pantry. Gonna try that tomorrow. Sounds pretty darn good.
ETA: Just got finished making 6 more quarts of pickles about 5 minutes ago. I'm probably gonna save more to eat fresh. I don't know what I'm going to do with the amount of pickles I have made.

Sliced, put in Tupperware with Italian dressing and some brown sugar. Shake well, then chill. Guy I worked with looooong ago suggested it, and I do it from time to time when I get burnt out on the usual ways.

Not replying to pillage, this is just a general question.
As most of yall have seen, rain is expected every day for the next 600years. Any guesses how this will affect a typical garden? Any preventative measures to take?
For me; Tomatoes and peppers are staked securely. Root veggies dug. Keeping an eye out for splitting tomatoes although I'm sure most of the cherry maters will bust open. Got a late start on melons so I don't have to worry about them splitting.

Pick any tomato that looks like it's starting to ripen and let it ripen on your countertop. Cause they will likely split with all this rain.
I'll be spraying some fungicide if we can get some breaks in the rain for a decent amount of time.
I don't think there's much else one could do.

I'm leaving Saturday for Florida, so I'll be picking anything that's starting to ripen. Looks like rain at least for the next 7 days.

Bump for a little help! Tomato and cucumber plants In pots are turning yellow and brown and dying off. Starts at the bottom working towards the top. Can I save them?

Any tips on Squash? I have about a dozen plants that I started from seed. They sprouted in the starter pot, and after two weeks I put them in the ground. They've been in the ground over a month now, and plenty of flowering, but I haven't seen one start growing. How long do the flowers typically stay on before they turn into squash? I only planted a few last year and I'm having trouble remembering. I got plenty early on last year before the heat killed them.

If I remember right Squash has male and female flowers. You may have to pollinate them yourself if you don't have any bees.

Thanks. We have plenty of bugs, but not sure about bees in particular. I'll take a closer look tonight.

I have currently busghogged everything down but my tobasco peppers, cheyenne peppers, and eggplants. It has been a great year, and i have been beyond blessed

Im the exact opposite. Im waiving white flag my garden is now complete loss due to all the rain. The cucumber were the last hold outs and the vines are all brown now.
Any ideas on how to get a raised garden to hold LESS moisture? Add sand?

don't use sand. Use peat moss and vermiculite
