Northeast Mississippi
In a finger of hardwoods between a creek and some CRP
308. 30 ft up a gum tree in a saddle. Hearing/seeing a lot of wood ducks fly over.

We shot two big does yesterday. Seeing a lot of scrapes but nothing chasing yet.

One of the does from yesterday.

Wife washed my hunting clothes in her smell good detergent, and I got the thermocell rolling so My chances feel slim but I have hot coffee and a racetrack biscuit so life is good!

Set up about 50 yards down a trail from an absolute behemoth rub I found yesterday on walkabout. Around target buck’s core area. Buck activity on camera is way down this week and I’ve concluded they’re rutting and off on sexy time excursions. My tract is small and I don’t have a ton of does, so I’m not feeling great about my chances until post rut. Can’t kill em on the couch though.

St Mary Parish marsh - Area 7
7 mag locked and loaded
63 with 10 mph east wind
Thermacell cranking

Bro in law calls at 10:30 last night begging to make a trip since the next couple days aint going to be conducive and our gun season ends in 8 days. 0 spotted so far but that can change in a hurry.

Update: I just watched a spike feed for 10 minutes as he meandered thru the marsh and Bro in law is about to lose a shirt tail.

Lot of deer in the Liberty Hill area. Used to hunt down there off of Singleton Creek Rd 20 years ago. Good luck!

They show up when we least expect it. I have only one consistent 8pt showing up but not eating so your suspicions are probably true & they are actively cruising other areas.

It's a little drippy here, but I still wish I was out there again. Going to go on Wednesday, have a plan for setting up the 14yo. I hope to get out myself again a couple of times this season too. Not enough days, too many other things to do.

We were sitting there cutting up with no expectations. She had been wanting to head in and I said we’d wait till 9.

8:45 I hear something to my right and he’s 10 yds away. I tell her don’t move and she thinks I’m joking. He starts walking and she sees him. Flips off the safety and shoots him at 20 yds with a 243.
