Went out to walk my dog and feed my horses about 11 last night and definitely didn’t need my headlight.

Good luck to all, I’m cooking fresh backstrap and eggs for my daughter this morning.

Got down about 9 and moved locations. Ain’t seen a thing today and sweating my balls off. Going get some ribs and putting them on the pit boss. Millers the rest of the evening. Screw an evening hunt.

About how I’m feeling right now

Just got back in the stand. Definitely heard a lot of shooting today around me all day. 75 degrees and feels like 100 in this box stand.

I got some meat in the freezer this morning. The deer were out and about. Only hunted for about an hr before pulling the trigger, ran maybe 30 yards.

I may need to suck it up and buy federal fusion online.

Walking to stand at 3:15, hear a rustling in old crawfish pond. 8pt jumps ditch and on road ahead of me, broadside, 20yds. Throw gun up, find in scope, safety off…..

Click. No bullet. Slowly rack back, then on the forward motion, he takes off. Cant get a shot in woods. He must be lookin for some strange so I backed up slowly and will sit in front box this afternoon. Whew, adrenaline pumping now.

ETA: not the same one I saw ealier, but another one we’ve had on cam. Come trottin’ up wind right at the last few minutes of light, stopped, smelled around, and made some circles right where the 3:15 buck crossed me on the road earlier. If I was 5 min earlier or later I wouldve hunted the middle stand and probably not have seen either. What a fun hunt.

No deer were harmed today on dog drives. One lady shot at a doe but missed. We did have several good races though.

Climbed in a box stand on the high line at 4 o’clock to see if anything crosses and enjoy the quiet calm evening.

Just had my old doe with triplets I’ve been watching all season come out.

I didn’t want to leave the babies with no momma. They walked within 25 yards and headed off in the woods.
