You hate game cams and food plots though, right?

No, I don't use them but if it's your only access to deer, I don't have problems with them. Just not my way of hunting, No one does here but we have unlimited public land. Even when I lived in La, didn't use plots. I may get a game cam to watch the bears around the house though.

Ok, but whats the closest place to hunt quail naturally? What is the price of a guiding service + gas to get there + taking off work or schedulinga trip with several people.

Well maybe some people should find new hobbies that they can actually afford.

but do you think they all do that?

No, I dont think they all do that. Those guys just give every hunter a bad name.

Shooting a quail thrown in the air is kinda like people fishing in ponds... like no fair advantage... the fish gots no place else to swim to.

That's called a shoot. Not a hunt.

Putting birds in a 1000 acre grass field, and a different person shooting at them, is hunting. But you have an elitist point of view, and your opinion will always be "right"

I would rather shoot clays than throw tame birds in the air and shoot them. If you don't have quail in your area, improve the habitat and don't hunt quail until you have some real birds..

Yep. In many parts of the US there is a PR war on hunting, and this doesn't help matters at all. It's target practice with edible meat.

If that is hunting then so is a backyard easter egg hunt.

You just described every outdoorsman in the US, most of you will deny it though. Everyone has their own opinions, strong opinions on what is ethical hunting.

Which is he part of the video I have a problem with. Not sure why people want to make this about something it's not such as canned hunts, etc.

Throwing birds up in the air is fricking stupid. Sending a pointer in to flush a covey of birds that fly just as fast as a wild one, is ok. Those pen raised birds have usually had very minimal human contact, and are still very afraid of humans. If you didn't put the bird out yourself, and the birds are flying like they're supposed to, I see nothing wrong with it.

= a clean kill to me. I pretty much don't give shite about the rest. I fail to see what's so horrible about shooting a farm raised bird as opposed to ringing its neck, other than its probably a damn sight easier than finding a wild one and shooting it.

SO what?

I didn't read all the shite in this thread, but what is in that video is BS. I will say this, I have done some quail hunts in LA and the ones I was on were nothing like that. Those bitches were wild as frick.

If you would, please explain how to do this.

Seriously. Exlain it.

In detail.

There is nothing "wrong" with any of it so far as what the law should be. To each his own, but definitely not for me. For it to be hunting, it has to be born in the wild and free range in my book.

That ain't hunting. It's shooting. I don't care if you toss birds in the air and shoot them, just don't come to the pretense you are hunting game. The original question was whether throwing birds in the air and shooting is hunting, and it's not under most definitions of the word. I would have a hard time calling those birds "game"
