No, but that's a great way to train your dog. People raise birds in a pen and then kill them. It is not hunting; it is killing. Concrete birds taste great though.

You'd be surprised how often that happens. I know a couple of places in LA that do the same thing. I'm not interested in that BS.

It's not hunting and it's nothing I would participate in myself. But there is nothing illegal about it, so to each his own.

We do that once per year. No, we don't call it hunting. We just want to eat quail, chukar and pheasant, and would rather shoot them than ring their necks. I used a pellet rifle last year.

When I worked field trials as a kid. We would sometimes toss live birds up for people to shoot, rather than ringing their necks. Sometimes we needed live birds for a blind set, and sometimes dead. One wing and a foot is the best hold to toss a duck. I know that much.

pathetic and a waste of your time and lead. if you just want to eat birds then farm them. pellets will mess up the meat.

Here's the deal. While that looked fricked up, and the dude that couldn't ring it's neck was pathetic, some places just don't have quail.
I grew up guiding quail hunts, where we'd buy the birds and put them out in coveys. A few hours later the hunters would come and shoot. If we had one that wouldn't fly, we just picked it up and rung his neck.

I hunt quail, Jeremy. They're overpopulated in this region and they're decimating the grubworm population. You got a fricking problem with that?

Exactly. This goes on all around the state. Buddy of mine was doing the same thing guiding for a place in S. LA

We would sometimes put out 200 birds and the hunters would only kill like 65 of em. So when they left, we'd break out the guns and dogs and run cleanup.

chicken tastes better than quail, but overpaying to shoot a smaller bird with less meat is more of a waste of time than sportsmanship. it looks like a way for old arse men with low testosterone levels to feel more "manly" or they hate their wives.
