So, a terrible shot with anything.

Sure, if its perfectly broadside with both its legs straight. You can contort that deer any number of ways to put the off side joint in the way of where your bullet might go.

I have one made by DMPS and I love mine. It is fun to shoot and very accurate.

You can easily move a leg and put it near the heart, angle the deer, do whatever. Its not hard to both hit lungs/heart and hit that joint on the off side. Happens all the time.

When you use something adequate with good bullets, you can shoot it on purpose.

No, you can't. Quartering forward is the only way. You really do live in a world of wives' tales.

You know it has two front legs, right? And this one still has his legs straight.

I'm not sure. I haven't seen many alabama deer. Ours move their legs.

Look Anybody's free to shoot dinky calibers and make sure they don't hit it. To say that hitting it constitutes making a horrible shot is wrong. With an adequate caliber, blowing all that shite up on a quartering away shot is a great way to get a bang-flop

Quartering away is a green light shot with a bow. Not sure why you need a howitzer to take that shot?

My .22-250 is the most accurate gun I have ever fired and i shoot everything under 300 pounds with it
It’s funny , when you slip it in the head behind the ear they all fall like a brick
.243 is ok but if you want to go small and fast at least consider .22-250

Tiguar,

If you want a semi-auto 243, go for it. Here's another option that will be less expensive and weighs less than an AR10 ... Browning BAR Stalker in .243. Detachable 4-rd magazine and 1 in the chamber, 20" barrel and rifle weighs 7 lbs. Bullet construction and shot placement are key factors in killing any animal. I know an older gentleman that has a crop depredation permit and has killed over 3,000 deer using a custom 6mm Rem with the Sierra 85 gr HPBT bullet.
