If you were going to buy a new pistol right now, what would you get?

Sig Sauer P365 SAS or Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 Subcompact. Leaning more toward the S&W.

I prefer the non-SAS version of the P365. I couldn't get comfortable with the integrated sights on the SAS, but some people rave about it

As for the question, go shoot both and pick which you like better. When I was looking for a new CC, both of those were on my list. I went with the P365. It's lighter and smaller, and with the 12 round mag it fits my hand nicely.

Looked at both the Sig and M&P, but bought Glock 43X. Felt better in the hand and pleased with the way it shoots. All nice guns, though.

It's a discipline in its own rite understanding the staggering number of choices in handguns. I was with a buddy who was just thinking about a handgun while we were taking care of shotgun issues at a gun store two weeks ago. It seems to me much easier to pick a shotgun.

Is this for carrying I'm guessing? Hard to argue with an M&P Shield. Inexpensive and they're a workhorse. I've fired thousands of rounds and I don't particularly take great care of the gun. I do clean it every 4 or 6 months, but outside of that, it sees lots of rounds between use and has never jammed.

If you're buying to conceal carry, I would get the standard P365. I literally forget I have it on my hip most of the time. I like a thin firearm with a short grip for concealed carry though.

I would probably step up to the compact sized S&W if going that route. For me, I don't see the advantage to the subcompact model over the P365 with the extended magazine. The S&W has the same capacity, but is thicker. At least the compact model gives you a few extra rounds as a tradeoff.

Neither. And most folks I've seen review the SAS prefer the non-SAS version of the Sig.

Btw, my aversion to the Shield comes from this:

Slide stop spring issue

My FIL has one and this crap happened to him right after cleaning. S&W fixed it, no problem. But he had to ship his gun off for a week or so to have it done. None of my guns have this little spring situated like this and have never been an issue. But damn if this thing doesn’t become a paperweight if this happens to you. Not worth the headache as far as I’m concerned.

i have a p938 SAS.. i love it.
carries well in a pocket(in holster) and i hardly know its there

if accustomed to focusing on that front sight...the bullseye might take getting used to.. but any adjustment takes literally no more than day at the range.

concerning that p365 SAS.. i dont think you will find a better striker fired concealed carry gun, imo.
it has an outstanding trigger...and everyone knows about the capacity.

fwiw, i already own micro compact sigs in P238 and P938..
i'll pick up a P365 next time i see a good deal on one.
