Also bought some of the new mullet flavor. (Let u know how that does later)

They said that fish bites only last one year and should have a date on it, but if u leave in the boat, tackle shed etc and it gets really hot the color will fade and it may not make it a year. However, they also said if u just forget and leave in your boat and it’s only a few months old, unopened etc and color is messed it’s ok. I honestly had no clue it only last a year.

On the positive, they said you could put in a bait fridge or better for me a bait freezer and it will not only not hurt it but it will last longer. So I am putting all mine that is still ok in the bait freezer, and just take it out when I need it.

I cleaned out my saltwater tackle box yesterday to get rid of dead weight, found a 3 year old bag of fish bites and they were completely gray and weird. I consider them disposable. What do they cost, $7 a bag?

You wrote them a letter?

An email. I have probably 3 dozen unopened bags of them and I bet all but about 6 or 7 are too old. I just wanted to know if I needed to throw them away or not

See the Walmart fishing tackle clearance thread

I would think tossing them on the deep freeze might preserve them a lot longer.

1. Ask them the optimal rh% for storage.
2. Get appropriately sized boveda rh packs
3. ????
4. Profit

I regularly write letters to the bait shoo because my pogies start smelling bad after a week. So far they have not responded. What assholes.

I figured this thread would be bullshite and I don’t use fishbait type bait that often. But putting them in the freezer is a damn good idea to be honest. Also I may portion them out into smaller ziplocks, freeze them, and just take a ziploc when I go and toss it at the end of the day.

I usually just like them as a 2nd or 3rd back up or if I’m doing something like catching pinfish with kids

If I’m not at the beach using it I store it in the freezer. It does in deed last a lot longer. Fridge helps too.

I've seen these and assume they are similar to Gulp. What are y'all using them to catch?

I put them on a double drop pompano type rig and use a piece of fish bites and a tip of fresh dead shrimp. I have caught a lot of different things with that setup in the surf.

I have used them for a couple of things. I use them on my sabiki rig when catching pin fish.

I have also put a very small piece on my swimbaits when there are a ton of pin fish in the grass. They leave my swimbait alone then. LOL.

I personally do not fish exclusively with them. Need to try that

If its in the surf it'll eat that setup. At times they work about as good without the shrimp. I think the shrimp attracts fish but is easy to get off the hook...but fish bites are about impossible to cut entirely off a hook. The good part will eventually melt away but that kevlar mesh they use as a binder is tough....
