I need a new weed eater - suggestions for a hassle free model?

Mine just died a final death today and I am looking for a new weed eater that won't be a hassle with the line feeder and replacement line/string. I find that is the most frustrating thing with these outside of them not starting up at all.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am not picky so gas or lithium ion battery pack would be fine. I am somewhat flexible on price although wiyhin reason.
Thanks for any help based upon your personal experience.

Have run Stihl for years (commercially) with no problems- and own one personally. Just switched to Red Maxx at work, and have no complaints so far.

I have a Stihl(sp) and it's been great for about 3 years. I had issues early with line breakage until a buddy told me to up the size. I'm pretty happy with if all in all.

Never had a problem with Stihl or Echo products. Most of it comes down to how well you maintain them and the quality of the fuel/lubricants you use.

Love my echo. It's a beast. Easy to string up. Cut a good stretched out arms length and feed it through the hole. Then twist the head to wind up the slack. Simple. I edge and weed eat a corner lot with side walks with it. Starts right up.

Been using redmax and shindaiwa for years commercially, but last couple imhave purchased have been echo. New red max's just don't seem to hold up well anymore compared to old models. Depending how much and how often you are weedeating a week the echo srm230 is a really good unit

I agree Stihl and Echo are both great brands, but I got a Shindaiwa with the easy feed bump head on it, and it has been great. I imagine it will last 10-15 years or so. Got the non commercial grade model for around $250 from Pro Power and have zero regrets

Another one to look out for is Hitachi. Don't see it very often except for the leaf blowers but it's all Tanaka (or rather Tanaka is all Hitachi).

I am running a Toro. It is 4 years old, and it has not given me any problems.

I'm a Stihl fan. A Stihl FS90R is what I suggest to everyone who weedeats their yard like a maniac. I run mine like a rented mule and it hasn't given me any problems. I like the auto-cut head a lot.
Echo makes good stuff also and they have some good straight shaft models that are very reasonably priced.
It just depends how you run them. If you go slow and don't have any bad stuff to deal with pretty much any cheapo rig will work and you can buy whatever kind of head you want for it. If you weedeat like I do (pretty close to running), you need something with a speed feed head and a lot of arse on it.

Shindiawa T242 is your answer

My T242 is going on 5 years of abuse and torture and it still runs like the day I bought it. Best 2 fiddy I ever spent.

Shindawia , 10years old and cranks on the third pull every time like clockwork. All I have ever done is replaced the fuel line and use nonethenol gas, the best gas powered equipment I have ever bought

The T242 is a great bargain.
