Shindawia T-242 I think. I bought a carb kit and did a rebuild on it at the beginning of the summer and it is running great again. Ten years old. Buy most of my stuff from Paige in Mandeville.

Been running a Stihl straight shaft (FS55R) for about 7 years. Can't say it's been trouble free (replaced carb 3X), but they are only $15 on Amazon and take 5min to swap.

Line feed isn't too bad and can do yard 2-3 times in a full load.

Will prob stick with Stihl when time to replace.

The smaller of the two commercial power heads for the Stihl kombi, then whatever implements you need to add. Ethanol free gas.

Been using an echo for about 10 years. Still cranks 2nd or 3rd pull. Never even changed the oil yet... Would buy again.

I use Echo for my biz and they have been solid, but the Stihl,RedMaxx, are all very nice. My advise for you would be to look at all 3 and compare price, warranty, one that you can get serviced if needed. Plan on spending over $200 for a nice one, but i would not spend over $300 as that would probably be way more trimmer then you need for home use. Also be sure you keep Stabil and Seafoam in your can at all times.Oh and guys please wear eye protection for God sake!

After getting a Husqy backpack blower and noted how well it performed, I went with a Husqy string trimmer. It starts and runs well and does the job!

I got a Shindaiwa with the easy feed bump head on it, and it has been great. I run aviation gas in it. 10 years old and cranks every time.

Stihl - have never had a problem with mine, had it for roughly 10 years. other than regular maintenance ie- changing the gas bulb and gas lines (have had to do this twice in 10 years), also changed the head of it maybe 3 times.

I am also a fan of echo, I still have one from about 15 years ago, haven't used it in about 6-7 years, sent it get it running again, for about $50, and it runs like a champ now, even though it rarely gets used

I've heard good things about redmax weedeaters and would not rules those out as well. I have one of their back pack blowers about 8 years old. never have had a problem with it.

Get whats comfortable to you, you get what you pay for, so don't get the cheapest equipment. and if you keep good care of it, it will last a good long while.
