Ok, a guy I know asked me and a buddy to get in a lease in Christian county Kentucky. I hunted the lease last year and saw a good many does and a couple small bucks and my buddy saw a nice buck around 130", but couldn't get a shot. I heard Chad and Dana Wall originally had this lease and actually filmed a show where they missed a nice buck called the highway buck and they actually got pics of the highway buck last year and he survived as far as we know. The lease is a little over 500 acres and 80-90 percent is planted in corn. All the stands are already hung and feeders in place. The only expenses on top of the lease fee would be filling feeders and seed for small food plots, split 3 ways. There is a small camp to sleep at and a skinning shed in place also. Should I jump at this chance? The lease fee will be between $2000-3000 and my best friend and neighbor is getting in so we could travel together. Thoughts? Advise? Last year they killed a 10 that probably scored 145", a 125-130" 8 point, and a cull buck between 3 or 4 people.

Just a few pics I will post more, but photobucket is acting up for me. A couple of these are from farms a couple miles away, but most are from this lease.

I have heard that CC, KY is booner capital of the country per capita.

Had a friend from mandeville hunt up there for a while next to the drury tract. They bow only and killed wall hangers every season. Had I think 1200 acres.

Being a little ignorant on northern hunting, my question would be what's the surrounding property look like, is it mostly corn field too?

It's a combination of soy beans, corn, and woods scattered around.

Long as you think there's enough timber on your side of the fence to hold em, I'd say it's a good deal. 80-90% planted is a little bit of a red flag to me, but that's why I asked about northern deer. As long as there's tracts of woods that the deer can travel I don't see it being a big deal.

How far of a drive is it for you?
And how much time are you going to have to hunt.

That would be my concern for that price.

I want to say its a 8 hour drive, if I remember correctly. I can hunt a week straight in november, which should be rut, the week before Christmas, and 2 weeks after Christmas for sure. I may be able to get a couple other short trips in.

I'd jump on it if I were you. I'm taking a guided gun hunt to Kentucky during the rut this year and can't wait to get there. I even bought a new rifle for my trip (T34L now).

It's about 9 hours to Paducah from Hammond non-stop. Christian County is around Hopkinsville I think. Probably almost another hour from Paducah. Although I'm sure there may be a shorter route that by passes Paducah

Depends on how often you will hunt it. But christian county is one of if not the top boone and crocket county in ky. Ive hunted ky a few times and i absolutely love it. If you will be going enough to make your money worth it the get in.

8 hrs is a good haul, but if you can make it worth your while go for it.

That might be a stretch

congrats on the new lease. just make sure you take advantage of it. and this doesn't sound like a meat-hunting club, so don't think of it that way.

We stayed in Hopkinsville last year when we went, and there isn't much, but we would drive to a bigger town that I can't remember the name of. The bigger town had a good many places to eat and such. We also drove to the little town by land between the lakes. It was a cool place. As far as lease fees, it will be $2000-3000 a person.

If you are a trophy hunter then I'd jump on it. If you're gonna shoot the first 120" 2 or 3 year old you see then don't waste your money. I'm in a lease in crittenden county and it's great hunting. Kentucky is becoming the best state in terms of how many b & c's it's producing

So it could be $3000 before any other expenses. Another $150 for license, $120 for deer permits and another $1000 for other expenses (gas, seed, etc.). $4250 is kinda steep to only hunt a few times a year. You could probably go on a week long trophy hunt in the midwest or Canada for that price

He said he's positive he can hunt for 4 weeks, definitely worth it IMO
