That is great. Where are you close to? We are very close to Port of Bistineau on the north side.

Are you going to be skiing, etc. or more of a fishing place. We are out there almost every summer weekend and at least a weekend or two a month in the fall/winter.

The dam. Bienville Parish Public Boat Launch is close if you know where that is.

Mostly just a fishing camp, with a side of tubing for the kids during the summers. I have a champion bass boat and fish quite often, so it will get used. I haven't had a "base camp" since I moved off of a lake in 1996. I'm excited...

Awesome man. The lake has looked really good the last two summers with all the rain washing out a lot of salvinia and them spraying a decent amount. If you google Gusta Point Heflin, that is very close to our place.

I started fishing it again last year when I heard it had cleaned up. Hadn't been out there in 15 years probably.

I figured with it cleaning up it was a good time to jump in. The opportunity literally fell in my lap.

I'm about halfway between you and the dam. Same side of the lake.

No doubt. Some of the folks around us are selling but they want a crazy amount of $ considering the issues over the last several years. Good for you man!

I've always got something going on.

It's looking fine, and holding water as it should. We got it stocked. Just waiting on the fish to grow up.

Have you ever hosted a kayak fishing weekend?

Seriously though, congrats on the camp. Fix the boathouse and walkway and add a dock/deck on the water and enjoy the life. You can drive the 30 minutes and sleep at home until the on the water improvements are completed.

ETA: Is the pontoon boat carcass also yours?

My late father-in-law's property is in Mansura, La. off Old River Rd. and near the Spring Bayou Wildlife Management Area. The property the houses sit on is 6.75 acres, but the houses have been abandoned and boarded up for about 10 years now and the last time I was up there, rodents and mold have taken hold of the place.

I would have loved to purchased that property, but it is so messed up with ownership since he didn't transfer title to his name when his dad died and some, but not all of the extended family members signed off on it giving it to him. The legal headache would be a nightmare to get clear title on it now, so it just sits and falls apart even more.

Looks like you still have a decent place to start from the pics of the inside. The worst thing you can do is leave them unattended and closed up for long periods of time.

Good luck with your new project.

Congrats on your purchase. I hope you have the opportunity to make a bunch of great memories with your fam and friends.Once you get it fixed up you may find yourself with some new friends. I may be looking for a new friend in a year or two.

Does it have central air and heat?

Be sure to check the duct work if it does.

Proud of you again Clyde T
