I agree. I don’t mind with certain friends, but I’d rather be alone most of the time. My days off are too precious. I have regular hunting buddy that will not do either alone. Blows my mind.

The only way I will do either! I do have a fishing buddy but we take separate boats and share info throughout the day on the same lake.

I went several years like this, but recently because of two younger cousins who own property and are eat up with deer and duck hunting, I've rekindled my passion for it. I'm the guy who has made all the mistakes they could potentially make.

I love hunting by myself or with my dog. One of the most peaceful enjoyable activites.

I do not like to fish with my dog though. I will fish by myself, but prefer at least one person that knows how to fish and be on a boat

It's very important to not only love your wife but also be good friends and be willing to do stuff together. When I don't feel like going alone, I will drag my wife along. She is an impatient fisher, so if she gets bored she just lays out in the sun.

.so I just Snapchat it to all my friends who are working instead.

This has been my mode of operation for several years. I will take random weekdays off work to get on the water and sending those pics to my coworkers is more fun than catching the fish.

we had a guy in our area drown pretty recently.

Is this the dude that drowned up at Alabama Landing? If so, that guy was my coach in junior high. Tough deal. I wondered the back story on that. I heard his wallet and keys were in his truck at the launch. Sounded a lot like a boat that got away during the process and he tried to make a swim to get it. Just wondering????

Same here. I like to turkey hunt alone for the challenge and the peace. Plus, I absolutely hate to whisper and strain to hear others whisper--too many rock concerts and shotgun blasts without hearing protection when I was younger.

Fishing is a different matter.

My wife just keeps having kids every 4 or 5 years, so aside from having about 25 years of youth hunts covered I will have someone to take until I'm too old.

I’m younger and I hunt and fish alone most of the time. I have a couple buddies I’ll fish with but that’s very rare. I have 1 buddy that will come hunting with me but he doesn’t scout or anything and it gets a little frustrating trying to find a spot to put him. I hunt public land so I really don’t trust people to know where I’m seeing deer.
Every January I take a week off and hunt with some family members that I grew up hunting with and that have taught me everything about public land hunting. I enjoy that week in the woods with them more than any other time spent in the woods. I guess it’s the tradition and spending time with family for me.

I do both alone...not hunt as much but fish mostly alone...
I was headed out duck hunting by myself one morning at 3am foggy...cold...30 minute run in the swamp...throw decoys out and camo the boat...wife finally said when are you going to stop doing this alone...I told her there will come a day when I won't be able to do it and I'll keep going until then...

hit 68 a month ago and still going...

I can not hunt ducks alone. One of the reasons I made a switch on a club I was in since I was 18.

I enjoy fishing alone but I can understand where you are coming from in terms of loading/unloading a boat.

I mainly hunt alone. I have some friends that I would love to hunt with but they don’t bow hunt. If my son, 13, would pick up a bow I’d prob never hunt alone. I do love hunting with him when he has a gun in his hand though.

Same here.
While I love a good duck/goose hunt with friends, I am just as happy hunting alone. No pressure to shoot Spoons and just the peace and quiet.

"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived." Thoreau

This is why I love to hunt alone.

I can hunt and fish alone all day long. In fact I prefer to hunt alone. My son is 8 and has tagged along a couple of times but he’s just not to the point where he loves it. Fishing however I’ll do alone if need be but it doesn’t bother my if people come with. Changes very little. I think these activities can be enjoyed many ways. It’s therapeutic for sure. Sometimes group therapy.

I enjoy going with friends/family, but I have no problem going alone because there's no pressure. I can stay as long as I want at a certain spot if I'm not catching or killing but have a good feeling about it, or I can head home whenever I want.
