Where? I've been catching in Lake Borne, but Lake P? You talking near Rigolets?

Top water and hard suspending lures February-April/may.
We have also caught a lot of hefty trout on live croakers.

I saw a kid post about a 24” he caught on the trestles or 11 a few weeks ago. I haven’t heard of too many great reports from the trestles but I wouldn’t be surprised if there aren’t a few nice fish on the causeway right now

This...
or Live bait June - July
Big Lake ain't what she used to be but likely a better option than the rest of the State. Just look at the CCA Star leaderboard. Biggest overall still came from Big Lake.
Not gonna catch the big girl under birds....

I used to be a big trout guru but over here in Texas although my biggest trout to date is from Big Lake. Go figure. Like you said, big trout kinda do their own thing away from school trout and I think that applies to trout anywhere from Baffin to Lake P.
My favorite time of the year for big trout is always January and February about 3 days post front when the Sun starts to warm shorelines in the afternoon. My go to spot for big trout that time of the year is East Bay and that North shoreline always warms up quicker since a lot of it has a dark bottom which attracts bait fish and in turn big trout. We also fish top waters and suspending lures too since those big trout are looking for big payday meals like big baitfish. Oh, and we always wade. Big trout are like big bucks, they don't get big by being dumb and the wind hitting the side of a boat will spook big trout.
Second favorite time of the year is like you said, in June. That time of the year it is fishing down in Baffin and the LM with croaker.

Yeah I'm just waiting for some calm winds next week and I'll go hit it up.

Croakers in late spring will 100% catch more big trout.

Look for some articles/interviews with Steve Shook. As far back as the 1990’s when I fished heavily, he was the master of trophy trout. Over the years I’ve read a couple articles where he gets very specific about bait and technique. I’ve forgotten all the tips, but hit the google machine and you’ll find some.
I used to fish with Steve A LOT and he was the best big trout fisherman in the last 50 years in Louisiana. 5-8 inch live menhaden, unique rock structures, kahle hook, free line with flourocarbon, in areas where the water depth is 5-10 feet with plenty of current and eddies.
Anchor no trolling motor.
Biggest stringer I've ever had with him was 10 trout 7.3 pound avg fishing an underwater rock formation near a old submerged island in the Gulf.

Ive mainly fished big trout for a long time - just enjoy it - not pretending to be an expert. Its a different strategy and you better be prepared to not have one hit all day. Its a different mindset and most people bail after a couple of hours to go bend the rod on something.
If the weather cooperates, flats next to deep water on a warming trend in Jan/Feb/Mar is an ideal setup.
eta: This is all on artificial.

I’ve caught 5 in my life over 25”. All but one was in a foot of water or less. This was in Florida. Just got back from a trip in Venice and we filled up the boat, but biggest trout was probably 18”

Free line big live baits over structure like others have said. Maybe add a small weight of current is strong.

Why would you take all those sows out of the reproduction cycle? To take a picture?

Deep old holes or river creek bottoms, (old bridges or rr bridges are often great) , further inshore than you probably think, 20 foot deep or deeper with live croakers at night
