Would y'all suggest I use synthetic or regular? I'll continue changing the oil every 4-7.5k miles like I do now. It will be going in my wife's Yukon so it won't be driven hard.

That really depends:
-How many miles are on the vehicle?
-Does it currently use any oil?

From what I've read, synthetic just increases the life of the oil. Doesn't have anything to make it lubricate better.

This may be completely false, but it's what I've read.

So my 30 years of being a greasemonkey gives me no input...
I personally had fram filters come apart..
80 pounds of oil pressure busted side of the filter blew up the engine..
and mixing oil Brands will gumup an engine

K&N has cost me 2 or 3 ATV engines...

And anyone in the know doesn't use them anymore...
Buy your jiffy store oil all you want doesn't bother me keeps me in business

There is always a better product. Mercedes is better than my Yota but my Yota serves me just fine. Never had any issues with any of the main brand names is all I am saying.

Doesn't mean you won't or other people haven't...

Just giving my personal experience and that experience say as fram and knn suck..

I agree if you change your oil regularly you won't have problems

Every 7500 miles, but that's in a diesel.

Do you know the reason that you are not supposed to flip flop between synthetic and conventional? I have heard this many times but was never given a reason why.

Daily drivers are about every 5K. Diesel is about every 8K

Small engines, atv's, and boat are done at end of their seasons.

You blew a filter at 80psi????

That's pretty pathetic.

Every 7k with synthetic. Keep an eye on the level to make sure I'm not running it low about every 500 or so. Haven't had a tire rotation in over 15k and it's getting about that time. This is for an 07 Tacoma.

This is correct

As far as the oil life percentage meter, this 05 goes off like clockwork at 3500 or 5k. Purely mileage-based. Condition of the oil has nothing to do with it, and frankly, I don't think they would be able to come up with something that would test constantly.

It might vary depending on driving habits, but I believe it is definitely mileage based, no tests involved

8-10k in my Tundra using full synthetic. That thing takes a lot of oil though. Almost 8qts

I think they're more complex than just an odometer.

Pretty sure it factors in hours, average RPM, and other basic stuff that it already monitors.
