Especially with the prices of protein and corn nowadays. Feed is definitely the biggest yearly expense we have at our place.

Quit buying corn and get some Mo Bucks. You're welcome.

I agree less than a hundred a week. If you can pull your boat to the launch then fish all day with bait, food and beverages for less than $100 you are doing good. Then throw in a couple of weekend trips, conservation banquets, licenses and miscellaneous equipment it isn't hard to nickel and dime yourself to 5 grand.

how do you spend $250 per trout trip?

Well considering it cost well over $300 to fill the boat up, yeah, it's pretty easy.

wild game is the most expensive meat on the planet
Wild game is free meat. You're hunting for the adventure, the comraderie and the thrill of the kill. The meat is lagniappe. Wonderful yummy lagniappe.

I hunt and fish for the sport. But...me and my family prefer wild venison to beef so we hunt to provide it. We could do it more cost effective but I do trophy manage as well. Actually, 90% of what we eat is wild game and fish. We really enjoy duck unlike most folks. My wife's favorite meal is duck 'n dumplings. The costs of our pursuits is why I work.
