No. It doesn't do anything better. The ballistics aren't enough to make me want one but theyll market it.
They are trying to sell more firearms. It's stupid. The cost to produce all these niche calibers should be put to use on another ammunition factory. Then they wouldn't lose.

Cost is negligible to develop a new cartridge. Why would they want to commit capital on a new factory of any kind with the current administration?

All I know is if a machine puts out 1 rd/sec, out of a dozen one is loading 6.8, and no two machines are loading the same caliber, it's being loaded at the same rate. That only applies to one manufacturer, though. And its likely that this cartridge will not be off the machine for many many months. The same thing happened with the last new caliber launch
You are completely guessing what Winchester is producing.
They are not going to produce a lot of a caliber that has low demand if they can just keep producing .308, 5.56 etc and sell every round in 30 seconds.
That's bad business.

No baw. That's eye witness testimony.
Anyways, how many times has it been posted to find ammo, then buy the gun? If nobody has a 6.8 western, it'll be on the shelves, and then people will buy it and the gun.

It is better than my old 270; but if i wanted a rifle to supplement the armory i would want way more horsepower (338, 300 mag, etc).
It would be great for a 1st rifle to do it all.
I'm so glad Bill Gates doesn't own the firearms industry; if he did my old 270 wouldn't work no moe.

There's no ammo so what's the point of the 6.8? Up to 500yds the 270wsm will shoot flatter. If you're going to hunt past 700yds why would you not take a 7mm or 300 Wm

The cost of innovation is trial and error and most of the time it takes many failures to have true innovation. I like the idea that gun manufactures are constantly trying to improve upon what we already know.

We can’t even get ammo for mainstays like .308 or .300 win mag, why on earth would I buy another new caliber right now.
Well, thats bc everyone has those calibers. Get a 6.8, no one has rifles, ammo everywhere!!!

.338 win mag and .357sig have been easy to find. .30-30 is a bitch to find.
Normally popular calibers are easiest but in shortages, the oddball stuff always seems easiest.
