Honestly, I think I am going to just relocate him if I am able to trap him. I have no need to kill him. Just make him someone else's problem.
No go last night. Did not have any good food. Just tried peanut butter and sone old fruit. He moved my trap about 3 feet and it closed but he did not go in it. Gonna try sone cat food tonight. But he didnt crap on my pool cage and he didnt rip my bird feeders down. If I can find my trail camera, I am going to set it up

Drop the trap with him in it in the lake. Problem solved.

Nah, I'm not into terrorizing the animal, and a death by drowning would be pretty terrifying I'd imagine---even for an animal.
The panic while trying to fight to get out the cage while having to hold its breath, but not long enough to escape the inevitable is not something I'd subject any animal to.
I prefer swift and clean. But you've got to be you I guess.

Yea, maybe in my youth but I have zero interests in seeing him suffer. Just want him gone. Relocation is my plan

Check your state laws. Most states prohibit or regulate the release of raccoons.
You can also check to see if you have a county or municipal agency that will come pick it up and euthanize it.

Yeah I always used welding gloves to make sure there was no potential to have a bite through.

Gotta say I love those sandhill cranes.
They migrate over us in Colorado and huge skeins of them making that cool arse call is entertaining.

They are pretty entertaining. They just walk the neighborhood all day. We have a good many of then. They are not scared of you either. I have walked within 2 feet of them many times. They just stand there and look at you. Two golf courses in our subdivision and they will stand on the green when guys are trying to play.
They make some noise early in the mornings when flying around but they are pretty cool. We have lots of things in this area that keep us entertained. I have a gator in the back yard that refuse to let me fish now. He is a new one in our small pond. I think some of our neighbors are feeding him. Dumbasses. He will come right up to me when Im fishing and get very close..
Seen bobcats, Bald Eagles, osprey, Deer, coons, tons of crazy birds.

Awesome. We drive down to the Keys every January and love to see the wildlife in Florida heading down 75 to the turnpike.
Beautiful country in that stretch. I could get used to some acreage with rolling hills and a pond!

Agreed. The drowning suggestion was an absolute last resort to dispatch him since it appears shooting him is a no-go.

We've got cranes all around in our neighborhood in Port St Lucie. Whenever I see two of them I have to tell my wife, "There's Niles and Frazier" cuz I'm clever like that.

My live trap has a ten foot rope tied to it. When I catch something the whole trap gets thrown in the canal. Wait five minutes pull trap out and dump in canal. No blood no mess.

Noticed crap in and around my pool and saw them on security cameras. Bought a trap and put peanut butter and marshmallows on a paper plate and have caught one each of the last six nights and released them about 5 miles away may be time for the pellet gun.

Another tip.....
A racoon in a trap will dig up all the grass under the trap if he is left there very long.
Place some boards under the trap to save your grass. It took a few months for my grass to grow back where the trap was located. I should have relocated trap to put it on concrete after catching the coon.
