Didn't even know there were charcoal pellets available. Will give them a try.

Get the Royal Oak ones. They make the best Charcoal pellets. They are the only ones I know that are 100 percent charcoal and not mixed in with any other wood filler. I buy mine locally at the local Kroger or Walmart.

Who the hell is using glue in their grill?

Not sure. Wood pellets bind using the natural adhesion in the wood. Maybe the guy uses glue to make his own?

Love my pellet grill. Have a camp chef - use it nearly every week for the last 3 years. Also have a PK charcoal , which I utilize exclusive for steaks. Pellet just doesn’t do it for steaks.

I was one of the last people I know to buy a pellet grill because I love charcoal. Still nothing quite like a 80/20 ground beef burger on a hot as the sun grill. That being said I'm now a fan of the pellet grill. I've done everything on it that I've done on charcoal and there is very little difference, if any.

right there with you, I got my Pit Boss a couple weeks ago over the Labor Day sales. I'm keeping the charcoal grill for now, and my dedicated vertical smoker is TBD pending some pulled pork on the pellet next week, but my 20 yr old Weber gas grill is headed out the door.

I think the Weber charcoal version you referenced is the way to go. Have you had any feed issues? Briquettes or can you feed lump?
I have had no feed issues really, but once I had to bump the grate to get the flow going-not sure what was going on that time. You can use either. I generally layer charcoal with wood chunks.

I have a Pit Boss Brunswick vertical, only about a year now. I live in BTR, word of caution…..the pellet hopper is HUGE. Only load with enough for your cook.

Just had an j stance where it was smoking out the back and sides, not operating correctly. I diagnosed that moist pellets were clogging auger tube and flame was back feeding to them. Kinda a fire hazard….when I emptied the hopper the next morning, there were burnt and hot pellets.

All good now but a learning experience.

I have about a 10yo Traeger that works just fine. I’ve done brisket, ribs, and chicken on it. It doesn’t get as hot as it used to (350°max) but is perfect for putting a slab of meat on and forgetting it. Another plus is if I’m working late or out of town my wife can use it to grill easy.

I also have a char-griller that I’ll use for steaks, burgers, etc. and love it. Both serve their purpose.

There really is only one main difference between charcoal and pellet. Pellet can not infuse as much smoke flavor as charcoal.
