Yeah we caught one in a live trap once. He was pissed. Otter made noises I've never heard. Demonic sounds

I had a crab trap that I would put out at the end of my boat slip and it occasionally got left in the river. Once, while I was out of town of course, I got a phone call from my neighbor saying there was a dead otter in my trap stinking up the neighborhood. The decomposing otter had floated the trap.

I got home the next day, and sure enough, there was a dead otter in the trap. And boy did it fricking stink. It was so swollen, I couldn't shake him out of the trap. I ended up tying a cinder block to the trap to sink it and just waited for nature to do its thing.

I felt bad for the otter. It had torn the orange plastic escape rings away and tried to make a bigger hole. Of course maybe that fricker is why I hadn't been catching any crabs.

I would not shoot one. I would let somebody come and trap if I absolutely had to get rid of them

Back when my great grandpa was trapping they were plentiful. By the 70's they were almost non existent. Now thanks to our wild life and fisheries office they are coming back strong. A real sucess story kinda like the Eagles and black bears and gaters and such. Almost hunted to extinction and now that less people trap and humt and they are regulated they are back.

Had one drown in a hoop net. Scared the crap out of me

Had one almost run over my foot while squirrel hunting

Duck hunting a blind on the bank, saw bubbles and a nose braek surface and blow. Otter came up and put front paws on deck of boat sniffing around, the went on its way.

Building a barn at my Dads house, one came into the yard from nearby swamp. Followed me up on the porch and walked in when Dad opened door. Shooed it out. Tried to catch in a net. Wrong choice. They are BADass

Watch and hear them chew mussels and crabs while deer hunting in the marsh

I've seen them a bunch. They're plentiful on the north shore of lake P. Used to see them every time we wouldnfish the Mandeville pier at night. They would float on their backs and look up at us and do they're little bark. Apparently people fed them because they wanted us to throw them shrimp. I would sometimes kill any small croakers I caught and throw it to them. I always see evidence of them eating crabs and clams on the beach in BIg Branch

I use to see them all the time when I hunted in the swamp.

See more and more all the time in different creaks and bayous. Evident that trapping is a forgotten art

I've had them steal birds on multiple occasions and had one eff my dog up pretty bad last season. My guess is that the otter was hungrier than my pup.

xenon.. I had a big chessie girl that took down many beavers and nutria... she always left otters alone

youngest boykin scared the crackers out of me she chased one on land last week barking at it - it sat up on a log and hissed at her and I had to go drag her away.....
