Sako Forester or L579 or AII. Best mass produced rifle ever made.

You didn’t read my post.

“for zeroing/ killing 10 deer”

Use cheaper rounds for target practice. Or don’t.

For best value and availability of ammunition, I would go with a .308. It will take deer, hogs, coyotes, elk, etc. Other calibers will certainly do the job but in my opinion, .308 is one of the most available ammunition choices.

As far as rifles in your price range, Tikka is great, X-Bolt is there and for all around workhorse on a budget, Ruger American.

Good luck!

I have 2 Christensens. Both are exactly as advertised; lightweight and accurate.

For $1500, I’d probably look at the Savage 110 Ultralight. It has a Proof Research barrel, adjustable trigger and adjustable stock.

Yep, I have an X-Bolt Hunter in .308. Excellent rifle.

Well reading gun reviews is how we get info. Otherwise it’s all anecdotal.

Then they're all stupid. That is a hell of a rifle. I'd take it in 3030, too.

Yea so are Sako 85 and quite a few had ejection issues. I read that on the interwebs also.

Exactly I read a lot but I also go with what my friends or people I trust say. I know of at least 5-7 CA rifles by name and they have had no issues.
If you go on rokslide you can find someone poopoo everything.
Go google whatever truck you drive and you find out it sucks.!!!

I have no experience with Christensen but it sounds like their QC issues left with John Mogle and followed him to Fierce.

My old rule of thumb is to spend 2x of the bare rifle cost on the scope. That may be an exageration but not by much.

I spent $2800 on my scope. It retails for $3300. 2x the cost of the rifle (custom) would have been over $6k.

Get the best you can afford. If all you can afford is a $200 scope, it will work just fine as long as you aren't slipping turrets for long range.
