My Sat hike on the Outer Point loop on the North end of Douglas Island gets interrupted (before it starts) by a driver pulling in front of me. Ripped up the front drivers side of my car pretty good. Slight set back on this fine spring like sunny day.

Had the two kids in the car as they like to patrol the tide pools on the beach at the end of the trail.

Just fast forward to 2:10 for the accident if you don't want to watch N. Douglas Hwy flash by, and listen to the Meat Puppets. ALso put it on 1080

It's all good. Older lady and just not used to a lot of traffic on that end of the road. I did try to brake but too much gravel on the road from the city snow crews and slid more than anything.

shite happens. Kids were pissed about missing out on the little hike and tide pools.

You were maybe one of two total cars on the road

Yeah, her intersection is right before the boat ramp and past the ski area turnoff. This time of year traffic is about 1/5th of what it is during the summer.

Glad you're okay. That happens on lightly traveled roads a lot. There's usually nobody coming, so they don't look, or if they look, they don't see.

Looks like yall are having a heatwave.

Yeah, it's been warm the past two months after one of the coldest years on record, last year. Snow is about gone at sea level.

Figured it would be a good day for a hike along the beach, but sometimes things go another direction.

It kinda looked like she saw you at the last minute, but she hesitated. Thus, you couldn't really evade, not that you had enough room.

If she would have just rolled on it...

All good, nobody was hurt.

We have about 20' extreme tides and when the tides are out, they leave these nice little pools on the rocky beaches. You can find all types of interesting sea critters in the pools, and the kids love exploring them. Kinda like this..

Dang. I bet those are fun. Do fish ever get left behind?

EDIT: And Roger, I'm watching Yukon men as we speak. Think of you every time.

Some small ones, on occasion. Most have learned to escape. You find crabs, starfish, etc. Sea lions will come up on the shore to check em out too. Kids love that stuff.

I've never seen it. I understand it's about some folks who live in Tanana, and them folks are a bit strange...

They ain't like us coastal folk.
