Supposed to be cloudy here all day through early AM tomorrow I really do like that kind of stuff. I always take the kids outside to look for shooting stars and point out satellites. You see some pretty unusual and fascinating stuff in the night sky if you watch long enough

And besides, even if you see nothing but stars, it's still good just to get the kids outside and looking at anything other than their phone screens.

The ISS Finder app is real handy for this.

We had a good view about a year or so ago. Clear night, between 9 and 10, flew straight over my house.

I've seen it 3 or 4 times at this point, but I'm a space nut. I got up early to watch the shuttle pass over and it was cloudy AF.

Six minutes means pretty much right overhead. The amazing part is how far that thing travels, at 17,000 mph, while you are looking at it.

The ISS will travel 1,713 miles during the time you are looking at it.

I took this handheld picture during the last lunar eclipse. It's really cool that we have the technology to know exactly when it will pass over, how bright it will be, and live track it as it's over your head

You can set your watch to the time they say it will pass. The flatter the terrain the better to see it appear at that exact moment.
Tonight in South Louisiana it should be a really good showing .

Best one I ever saw involving ISS...Shuttle Chasing the Station...

Best Shuttle one alone: Re-entry over JSC one morning.

Best atmospheric Shuttle...any launch viewed from KSC or any landing from KSC....The sonic booms ROCK.

But with SpaceX flying back their boosters....you get 2 booms per booster....one on the leading edge and one on the trailing.

I'd love to see any of those things

Yep that used to be an awesome site.

There was a fantastic re-entry one night in the late 90s over Baton Rouge. It was really incredible when the shuttle used to re-enter over Louisiana.

Used to love when that would happen. It’s amazing what goes on up there.
Always was interested in anything like that.
Should have been an astronaut.
In fact my fourth grade teacher sent my mom a note saying I was taking up space in her class. Go figure.

I set an alert for 7:45. Gonna bring the kids outside to see it. I remember always going outside to see it when I was a kid.

Anyone give me a 5 second tutorial on how to read the coordinates? Never sure what to use as reference for angles

ETA - still not sure how to read all the coordinates, but figured out enough to see it.
