Not sure the best board for this, figured you guys might know.

I'm getting an electric golf cart mainly for the riding arou d tbe neighborhood and occasionally golf. Four person, over sized tires, lights, etc. Nothing over the top.

In general how do EZ Go, Club Car and Yamaha stack up against each other if it is apples to apples.

I have quotes and Club Car is about $1k higher than the other two.

Not sure where you live, but i know in lafayette none of the courses let you bring your own cart, even if you have a membership. Same for crowley.

That being said, i wouldnt get oversized tires, even if the course allows outside carts, they might not allow oversized tires.

I have recently restored an older ClubCar, and the suspension was still ultra smooth. No experience with EZGO or Yamaha.

Golf carts are very simple and easy to work on in general. So I would honestly go with the one I could get the best deal on. As far quality, from what I can tell they are pretty similar.

I’m not 100%, but I believe the club cars have aluminum frames while the others do not. Not that important for tooling around the neighborhood, but if you will use for hunting or on the beach this could be a consideration.

EZ-GO is a carbon steal small (1” x 1/16”) angle iron rust bucket. Bought one and realized what a piece of junk it was and took my loses to get something better. Always check the battery compartment and frame cause they can add a new body to make it look new but the frame will be horrible.

Bought a Club Car and love it. 2x4 aluminum tube frame with plastic battery box. As mentioned above CADILLAC!

Yes, that’s all we use to purchase at work. Can’t really compare them fairly due to using them in an industrial environment but I can say they are better made than EZGO in my opinion. However once again the frame/battery compartment material is carbon steal but a little more heavy duty than EZGO.

Club Car is the best built and there are unlimited after market parts and accessories for them. Bought mine at Gulf Coast Carts. They will do anything thing you want and can meet a range of budgets

From my experience they are all good carts. I am assuming you are getting a new cart. The EZGO TXT is probably the most reliable cart ever made. They are built like tanks and can easily and cheaply be upgraded to get more speed/torque. But they are not anything special to look at. The RXVs are nice, but I have seen where they have had a lot of problems with the controllers.

The Club cars have an aluminum frame and that's about it. I don't see where they are the cadillac of golf carts as a previous poster said. To be honest the frame is probably the only thing on the cart better than any other brand.

The Yamahas are really nice stock. Once you lift them they get squirrly and unstable. I personally like the fit and finish of the yamaha carts the best. They just feel like a nicer cart.

As with most Ford/Chevy debates I would recommend finding the best dealer in your area and buy whatever they sell. A good or bad dealer/service shop will make a bigger difference than the brand of cart.

If you plan to play golf with it don't lift it. The courses hate lifted carts, and getting in and out sucks after 2 holes. Plus you can't pick your ball up from inside the cart.

If you're looking for a used one, I have a precedent that's about to be for sale.

All you need to know is club car is the top, then yamaha and then ez go. I personally went with the Yamaha just because I liked the look better.

Learn how to date the batteries. Make sure you know how old they are before you buy.

I don’t have to worry about my frame or battery box rusting out. Perhaps EZ GO and Yamaha have addressed these issues, I don’t know. I don’t really care. I just gave an opinion.

I’ve owned them all.

- EZGO are the easiest to work on. Simplest parts and construction, but tend to squeak.
- Club Cars are smoothest riding - my a country mile, but are higher priced & probably will need more maintenance than the others (it doesn’t mean the need ALOT of maintenance, just more frequent - brakes, more complex wiring, etc).

Yamaha’s are fine, but got w the EZ or Club Car.

As previous poster said, Club Cars are the Cadillacs of golf carts.

You'll find a lot more options on accessories, and a lot more "dealer assistance" if buy with EZ-Go or Club Car.

If you check out the forums at BuggieGoneWild.com you'll find about 250k posts in the Club Car forums, about 225k posts in the EZ-Go forums and only about 20k posts in the Yamaha forums. Based on this one can infer/extrapolate (yeah - I know - might not be valid) that Yamaha probably has only 5% of the electric golf cart market. And if this is close to accurate, there are probably good reasons for it.

FWIW everyone I know & shoot clays with has an EZ-Go or an EZ-Go "derivative" (Beast, et al).
